Judging by the quality of modern entertainment, I don’t think they deserve a raise.

As how the article describes the situation this seems like a terribly way for writers to work, so the strike seems inevitable. In the best case scenario this could have two positive effects, shift the balance of power towards the writers and also give an opening for talent of other countries to be known internationally.

The last time this happened nothing changed much afterwards in respect to what became popular, but this time streaming services put a lot of interesting series and movies from all over the world just a click away from your screen. A few months without a favorite series may help people find out other sources of entertainment.

Netflix will be hiring some NEW writing talent, Harvey Weinstein/Molester and his ilk not so popular these days!
