RIP. What a year, 2020.

Going to be difficult. The same way I can't picture Ironman fitting anyone other than Robert Downey Jr, I can't picture another Black Panther. Its like Blade without Wesley Snipes. Tom Hanks without Wilson.

I agree that Letitia Wright's Shuri should be the next Black Panther. It'll be hard to do that transition, though. I don't envy the script writers. They should probably avoid using unseen Boseman footage, in my view: Rise of Skywalker proved how badly that can misfire.

What I feel sad about is that Boseman was set to star as Yasuke, the African slave who became a samurai in Japan, in a future movie.

Erik Killmonger(Michael B. Jordan) died at the end of the 1st movie. At the end, why not just resurrect him the heart-shaped herb like they did with T'Challa? Bad guy turns good.

I have seen different Batman, Superman and 007 - I think they should continue

Follow the comics and go with the sister, else leave the whole thing alone. Please don't put another actor in the role and claim "Illness (or some supervillain's magic spell) has led to a dramatic change in the face of our here", or do a CG actor movie.

I totally agree, seeing another male lead for the role of "BLack Panther" would not go down as easy as seeing another person play the role of "The Joker" in the Batman.

The 2018 film broke new ground with its predominantly Black cast .... it was praised for its diversity

Say again?

Look, of course this film should have a predominately Black cast. It's about a character who is black. It would be wrong if they were to take a character and force a completely different look (Like they did with Capt. Marvel, for example.)

I'm glad the first BP did as well as it did, but praising it for its diversity is a bit rich.

Not sure how they will have Shuri take over anyway. They used the last of the magical plant to transfer any BP power to anyone else. They will either have to ignore that, or use a cheap plot trick to say, "oh actually, we had ONE MORE dose left!"

Why not do a Paul Walker and CGI Chadwick into this film long enough to make a decent transfer to Shuri (along with some weird plot twist) and be done. It would be a nice gesture to Chadwick's estate to pay them for using his likeness.

I suppose they could time travel and get some more of the magical plant...

Good point, Maria. Even within the same Marvel Universe, we have seen new actors brought in to replace someone else for minor and even central characters.

Good point, Maria. Even within the same Marvel Universe, we have seen new actors brought in to replace someone else for minor and even central characters.

Don Cheedle replaced Terrance Howard. Multple Hulk actors and Spiderman actors.

It would be hard to replace Chadwick Boseman because of who he was as a person and actor, but it can be done. There are a lot of great young black actors out there.

Michael B. Jordan would be an obvious replacement. Although he was the bad guy in BP, I would say just cast him and don't worry about the incongruity. Actors play many roles and sometimes even within the same movie. Michael B. Jordan would bring a lot to the role, like he always does, and the role stays within the group that made the original movie. It seems like the better solution instead of having the sister just appear as BP.

Not being racist here but there was nothing good about black panther. It was a terrible movie like all the marvel movies. The only thing about the movie that stood out was that it pandered to the black audience. Enough said.

Not sure how that is different from any other movie.

George Lucas has come out and said that Star Wars panders to children. Every movie has a target audience, and not every movie is well received outside that audience. You may not have liked it, but I there are millions who were in the target audience and saw it as special, even if it was just the cast.

The fact that it found an audience makes it special.

For Shuri to become the next Black Panther, or Queen of Wakanda she would have to face any challenger. It was hard for T'Challa I dont know if Shuri could do it. Perhaps M'Baku could carry it off. He proved to be a good ally of T'Challa. Which ever way they go I hope it is done with grace and protecting the legacy already created by Chadwick.

Thanks for the hours of memorable and enjoyable entertainment in all of your roles. A consummate professional. You are already being missed.
