Love HLATN. Great band, great songs. Sorry to hear this

So much for the power of love.

Did you hear about HL? Neither did he.

HL can't hear music well enough to sing. He's taking something, but it ain't working. He wants a new drug.

What did the doctor say to HL? This is it

Too funny, but it is sad news, when I perform, I always make sure I protect my ears. I always wear earplugs, it’s vital to take precautionary care of your ears.

nice spin bros!

When I went to a heavy metal band like Motorhead, or a heavy rock band like Led Zeppelin I would stay at the back away from those ear piecing speakers. So many of them now have hearing problems.

I've seen Huey Lewis and the News 3 times in concert and they are very entertaining. They also have some great harmonizing, amongst the best in rock - comparable to the Beach Boys and Def Leppard (I've seen both those bands too).  Like Zichi I've also seen Motorhead and I've seen Motley Crue and you need earplugs for them. I didn't wear any for the Motorhead show and it was in a club. I had ringing in the ears for 3 days! I was better prepared for Motley Crue, they once held the Guinness World Record for being the loudest band!

Get a clue people and stop with your own stories. This is about Huey.

Meniere's disease! Nothing to do with loud concerts and noise.

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

Hewey Lewis really is a great entertainer. I like his music sure enough, but as far performers go, he is one of the better acts to come out of the 80s. TIght, good showmanship, and good energy. That said, I deal with sad news by making bad jokes. So, with all apologies, I'll kick it off:

If he has Meniere's disease, then the hearing loss is not due to exposure to loud music.

Just for the record.

It's not just concerts. Nightclubs can do damage too.

But HLATN had some good songs in the 80's.

I love a good gig. Depending on the band and, just as important, the venue, it doesn't have to be deafening. If you are worried wear ear plugs.

That's why I've never been to a concert. My ears are sensitive and I worry about them as my dad and all his siblings suffered from hereditary hearing loss

I've never been to a Huey Lewis concert, but I've been to some eardrum piercing concerts which left my hearing ringing for days afterwards and wishing I'd worn earplugs at times.

How and why those performers punish their hearing that way night after night is a mystery.
