I remember him from ABC News before the Sinclair Newspeak Corp. took them over. He was as good as Peter Jennings (NBC) and Dan Rather (CBS) and I liked those guys too. Now news journalism is a bunch of propaganda and egotistical talking heads, it sucks. RIP Hugh.

Hugh Downs gave Barbara Walters her big break. When asked who would be his news co-anchor, he preferred hiring from home-grown talent and suggested Barbara Walters, one of the show's writers. And they've worked together a lot since
RIP. It's just apropos that Downs' tombstone would say 2020. "We're in touch, so you be in touch."
