Imalu suits up for Aoyama

Major suit manufacturer Aoyama Trading Co Ltd will put two new brands of ladies suits on sale Feb 18, just in time for job hunting university students and freshman employees. One brand, "Suits Me Imalu" was designed with input from popular "talent," 20-year-old Imalu.

Designed around the concept of, "I do it my own way. Imalu," the line breaks out of the normal ready-made mold with unique designs that work for both the business and casual look.

The other line, "Person's Suit Style," was designed for "stylish women living in the here-and-now," and offers up a collection of three styles of jackets and skirts that can be sized individually instead of bought as a one-size set. The brand is hoping to hit sales around 900 billion yen next fiscal year.

Aoyama's ladies suits only make up 5.4% of total sales, and company president Osamu Aoyama made a statement that, while the men's business suit market is shrinking, "we have to jump in and fill the demand of the growing ladies suit market." Which is why the company enlisted Imalu, he added.

One must admit that an Asian or any nationality woman in a business suit can & does look good in the eyes of others be they fellow workers of outsiders that might meet her while at her working place.

She looks great.

Interestingly, Imalu's name stands for 'Live for the moment'. Cute woman.

they sure love the fist.

The only reason this chick is famous is because of her parents. She is so bland.

I'm not a violent person, but I like the fist pose so much more than the ubiquitous peace sign.

Ditto. I've been trying to watch her interviews, check out some of her modeling work, and every time I see her or hear her speak I think 'Why?'. She only looks good when she is heavily made up, and she really doesn't have anything interesting to say. I must admit though, this is the best picture of her I've seen.

Based on this picture, I would like to see her showing off the whole line of this season's suits.

... so I can get a better idea of, you know, the brand.

You'd think they would get someone a little prettier than her.

Present economic conditions may not inspire them (Aoyama) to think of anybody else but Imalu !

The fist says 'Ganbarou' or 'ichi-ban'.

I'll never find a suit in Japan by anyone for my American size 14 frame. Sigh...
