Personally, I'm looking forward to the next season of The Witcher. I have played a few hours of one of the games but mainly like it because it's a well made fantasy series.

I would like to see movies based on games where the story is more important, for now movies and shows have went more towards videogames with easy and popular topics that give a lot of freedom for the adaptation, but how about from games that are already close to movies from the original, maybe some Metal Gear, Bioshock, Uncharted, etc?

Then again having no adaptation is still much better than having a terrible adaptation.

Enjoying “The Witcher” Season 1 @MannyPereira 12:42pm “On NetFlix” without ever having played the game. Does it get better? Will it hold up or will “cross cultural politics” take over?

Pipelines are getting crowded. A long-in-development, Steven Spielberg-produced “Halo” series is planned for early next year on Paramount+. Netflix will premiere a “Resident Evil” series in June; the streamer also has an “Assassin’s Creed” series in the works. Last month, Sony and PlayStation Productions said they would produce an adaptation of the hugely popular game “Ghost of Tsushima” with “John Wick” director Chad Stahelski.

There's more coming

Especially because every studio is starting their own streaming service, they need more content to fill them ASAP. And since they don't need to be in theaters, they don't have to be mass-market productions - they can be more targeted at various niches like Netflix has been doing

Why even bother covering this on Japan Today, since the movie doesn't have a JP release date?
