They have to recoup the 100m pounds they paid Craig for his last Bond movie!

They really should take a break from Bond. Daniel Craig was good, but he's too old now. And producers keep trying to change the essentially non-PC character into something acceptable to modern puritan standards.
A really great series of novels, a few great movies. But they have wrung the life out of it.

Stream!!! Stream!!!
What idiot will risk his and his family lives going to a movie theater??? Maybe Trump?

Bond is a sexist, misogynist dinosaur. A relic of the Cold War.

Lots of time to die, waiting for this one.

I liked all the 007 movies until GoldenEye. The franchise ended with Ian fleming's death so to speak. When a female M started calling Bond a sexist pig, the thrill was gone. Fleming said himself that James Bond is a jerk and the novels (and films) were all a spoof. Nobody seems to 'get' that anymore. The entire 007 franchise, like STAR WARS, STAR TREK, Marvel Comics, etc. has been 'sanitized' for your PC protection; completely bastardized and just not fun anymore.

Lols at some of the middle aged men having angsty moments because things aren't like the way they used to be.
Why not?
Nobody had a problem with the quintessential English character being portrayed by Welsh, Scottish and Irish actors.
There's no such thing, except in the fertile and fevered imagination of a tiny demographic who see woke/pc in every nook and cranny.
Been following all these franchises for decades and they've never been better. Did you read Grant Morrison's run on X-Men? Not sure how one could call that sanitized.

Bond is a CHARACTER in movies for pete's sake!!!
When they introduce the female ""bond"" get ready to get woke go BROKE ala the female Ghost Busters flop etc
Why cant they just make a NEW movie with NEW characters without all the BS. Cant wait to hear how the new female bond is all empowering & all the usual bull, meanwhile the guy is now all bad LOL!!

He's a character in the novels and then the films. I've seen every one of them. Clearly people reacting to that quote haven't.
There is no female Bond, yet. There is a female 007. That's because the 007 is an MI6 number ascribed to the agent. Agents get promoted to the 00 status during their career.
There will be another 007 in the new film. Not a new Bond. It means that Bond is probably promoted up the ladder.
There was a female M for over 20 years, who replace a male M. In case anyone's forgotten.
There. Is. No. Female. Bond.
But I look forward to the usual suspects crying into their popcorn, if and when there is one.

Clearly from your previous comment, that's because you don't understand them. I have read the novels and seen the films. You dislike the protaganist in the novel, which is your choice. Fine. And now you are happy with new film versions that alter the essential nature of the protaganist and basically dissolve everything the stories were based on, converting them into some syrupy formula that trades off the brand.
Let's make a film about Malcom X with Zac Efron in the starring role. And, instead of fighting white supremacy, we'll have him fighting against Russian spies. Would you be happy? Good stories are character based - you can't just swap out new characters to your liking and expect the story to still work.
If you don't like a story, write a new one. It's pathetic to simply borrow a successful story and fundamentally change it to suit the cause de jour, ruining the story and doing nothing for your cause.

Oh fer crying out loud.
Do I have to spell it out?
The quote was from 1995's Goldeneye. It was to show that the gig has been up for Bond for over 25 years. It was an ironic and knowing quote, then and today.
I've been watching (and reading) Bond for over 40 years. He's a bastard, but still an enjoyable character. Like MacDonald Fraser's take on Flashman.
Anti-heroes you can still reluctantly cheer on, throughout the years and incarnations.
What are you talking about? Craig's Bond is a tough brute of a man. His uber-masculinity is not in doubt, nor has it been disminished in the slightest.
Are Bond fans scared of emotion? Best not watch OHMSS from, 50 odd years back, then.
As people keep telling me, Bond is a character.
Malcolm was a real individual.
It's not being fundamentally changed. It's, at most, a new chapter in a story that's been told again and again (all Bond tales are essentially the same plot) for over 60 years.
It's just nice to see that suave, rapey types are being toned down. That's it.
But I guess there's still some folks what had a coronary when May Day got on top, back in the 80s era.

The new 'Star Trek' movies have new actors playing the original characters and they are soap operas now. They are totally astray from what Gene Roddenberry envisioned and they are total garbage. In 1987 we got Star Trek: Next Generation with a whole new cast. THAT'S the way to 'update' a franchise. NEW characters altogether.
Marvel Comics movies now are a sick joke. Portraying Spiderman as a wimpy whining teenager with a disgusting hairdo, where the original was a college student who tackled modern world issues - that's a bastardization of it all. I saw the 2017 movie, it was so awful not even the Ramones cover at the closing credits could even hope to save it. i hated it. It was RUBBISH!
cleo
In You only live twice Fleming gave Bond a Scottish father and a Swiss mother - apparently partly influenced by Connery's portrayal of Bond in Dr. No.
Lazarus Knows
Actually, Peter Parker begins the story as an unpopular high school student. The 2017 film is very accurate to the comics. Sad to see fake fans on here.

Wait until you see Deadpool. The coiffures alone, are a crime against humanity.
The JJ Abram's films? I quite enjoyed them and found them true to the original spirit, if a little bit more action-orientated.
It seems some Bond/Marvel/Trek fans are stuck in an anomaly that not even photon torpedoes can get them out of...
