He was one of the few actors who actually made me sit up straight whenever he was on screen.

Though early on I saw him in a lot of drama/thriller type movies, he was great in comedies later on too.

He was a mega-star when I was a kid. My mom had a crush on him and had an issue of Playgirl with him in it. Unfortunately, I looked inside and saw his zou-san.
