Don't strain yourself, James.

Probably the most over rated movie of all time. I still don't get what all the fuss was over this film. I just couldn't understand what people liked about it.

Well, tease us with a little something. I met Doug Trumbull in San Francisco about three years ago, and said I thought a book of his, Ridley Scott's, and James Cameron's artwork would sell like nothing else. Cameron is scary good, by the way, if you happen to see that YouTube of him in his home flipping through his artwork. A great big Taschen art book. What's to lose?

@Nima: I see what you mean.

I saw it, enjoyed it and wouldn't mind watching it again at some point, but it was a pretty generic story; Basically Dances with Wolves or Disney's Pocahontas...in space.

I wager it was more the technical work that made it big (Mocap, 3D, Bluescreen effects, etc). I like movies, but I'm not really in the know of how technically difficult Avatar was to make, so I can't really appreciate it to be honest.

...probably the same could be said about the new Mad Max- it got all the praise in the world, but for me it was just another pretty good action flick.

Worse than Dances with Wolves by far. Kevin Costner is an infamous center-stage seeking egotist and even he didn't try to make Dunbar out-Sioux the Sioux and turn out to be the reincarnation of their ancestral demigod hero.

Cameron isn't ready yet. He needs to stock up on more cliches and tropes
