What a bizarre comment.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why American soldiers were fighting a war half way round the world in a country that wasn't theirs and in a war that didn't involve them. If only all those killed had said they had bone spurs too.

Why is that her fault? The US government is to blame for all the Americans that died not Jane Fonda.

I only came here to see how quickly someone would mention her protest of the Vietnam War (a war which everyone now agrees was such a good idea, right?)

So many people maintain cognitive dissonance, unable to accept updated facts, clinging on to their ignorant opinions.

Jane Fonda is wonderful actress. And an incredible humanitarian. She deserves the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Nobel Peace Prize. She worked long and hard for peace in Vietnam.

Ask a Vietnam Vet. Indeed. During the Vietnam War, she crossed the country visiting with troops in off base coffee shops and other places where soldiers fraternized with one another. She worked tirelessly for Peace and all the money she made from films she appeared in during that time period, went to fund the Peace Movement.

Individuals who make bizarre comments about the War and Fonda have no comprehension or understanding of the historical period or politics in the sixties and the early seventies. Vietnam Veterans Against the War marched on Washington D.C. The organization was founded in 1967. Tens of thousands were members. A large protest by Vietnam veterans, "Operation Dewey Canyon III," it took place in Washington, D.C, April 19–23, 1971, it was led by Gold Star Mothers ( mother of soldiers who had died in the war). On Friday, April 23, more than 800 veterans individually tossed their medals, ribbons, discharge papers, and other war mementos on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, rejecting the Vietnam War and the significance of those awards.

For a little perspective on the movement she embraced: the weekend of Nov. 15, 1969, about 500,000 people gathered in the capitol for what’s believed to be the largest antiwar protest in U.S. history, called the Moratorium March.

Absolutely. Her acting career and exemplary charity work and activism dwarf her Vietnam moment.

If the naysayers believe we can define a person by one moment and not a lifetime of achievements then we’re going to need a new name for the Demille award and a new category for best ‘grab them by the....’

As a disabled vet of that war I thank Jane Fonda for her peace activism. Anyone who pays attention to what she has had to say about the controversial photo op should remember that it was done on the spur of the moment and she immediately realized that it had been a mistake. Let those who have never erred cast stones.

You should publish all the comments from the many hundreds of thousands of the veterans. It must have taken you a very long and exhaustive amount of interviews. Don't let it go to waste.

Have you included the postive comments from veterans on this very page? Kind of goes against your claim that there wouldn't be one complimentary response.

It would be nice to balance the crazy with the realistic.

Incidentally, how long did it take to interview every single Vietnam veteran in the US and across the world? Did you do it on your own or employ others to track them down, arrange calls, send emails etc?

Given that there are over 600 thousand still alive, this must have been a gargantuan task. One worthy of news coverage, even.

I wonder what the poor people who were killed in that pointless war would have to say about someone trying to prevent well over a million deaths, including their own.

I remember watching 'Barbarella' with Jane Fonda as a pre-teen. Quite an arousing movie to say the least!

That movie was such a Z-grade hoot but she probably is embarassed by it, with the sexual angles and outright cheesiness. And there's the popular band Duran Duran who'll never let her forget it!

Hanoi was a mistake but good intentions.

We all make mistakes.

Even as an American, Vietnam Vet, I had no problem with jf going to NV. Anything or anyone who could help reduce if not stop the war would be helpful. However, when she sat down on the AA gun, put on the NV military helmet, and smiled, it was at that exact point that she became a traitor.
