At 50, just in the nick of time. Congratulations.

Jackson had been discreet about her personal life

Has she finally come out yet about the kid she supposedly had like 30 years ago?

hope he has a more happy and balanced life than most of the other Jackson progeny.

Good on her for breaking the stereotype that women cannot have kids after a certain age (the one I hear the most is 40)

But she can afford whatever fertility treatment she wants, unlike many women over 40. Lots of women find it's more difficult later on in life, and sometimes it's even too late.

It's not a stereotype, it's a medial issue. After 40, the chances of Down's syndrome increase significantly. It's not that women cannot have children after this age, it's that it's preferable to have children before this age. The age used to be thought to be 35, and maybe was, but recent advances in medical science have pegged it at 40. I think Japanese women (or maybe doctors) still say 35 though, but in the west the currently accepted number is 40.

By and large, I agree with you. But its wrong to peg it at any number. MANY factors go into when a woman can or should stop having kids. Genetics, diet, general nutrition, health, access to good medical facilities plus many other factors. It should be taken as a case by case health issue.

Having said that, My mother is a licensed obstetrician and gynecologist who did tell us that if we were going to have children we had to start soon as we were cutting it close..

Of course it's going to be a case-by-case and person-by-person issue. But doctors are able to look at trends and give an age over which you're statistically going to face a higher risk of the situation happening. No doctor anywhere is saying 'your baby will have Down's syndrome if you are over 40 when pregnant', what they are saying is that the odds of it happening increase significantly past that age. Each woman can decide how much that risk applies to them personally (I'm guessing someone healthy is probably going to have a statistically lower chance than someone unhealthy), on their own case-by-case basis.

agree. but what I have a problem with are societal norms that more or less condemn a woman to not being able to have children after a certain age. What makes me happy is that I think that more women in their forties might decide to think again about having kids and be inspired by Janet.

Janet is amazing. Congrats!

The albums were notable for their socially conscious lyrics, in which Jackson identified with women’s empowerment, and were accompanied by intricately choreographed live shows.

I am wondering how much 'womens empowerment' her new husband will allow.
