I saw the Cure live and Robert Smith is a hell of a guitar player.
In Between Days is a superb track.

First concert I ever went to was The Cure (Kissing Tour, I think it was). I may not listen to them much anymore but at 17 they blew my mind.

One of my high school girlfriends begged me to take her see Def Leppard in June 1983. I only agreed because the opening acts were Krokus (Headhunter tour) and Gary Moore (Corridors of Power tour).
I saw Gary Moore live and Gary Moore was a hell of a guitar player.
The End of the World is a superb track.
Thin Lizzy has never even been nominated for the RnR HOF. What a farce.

Congratulations to the Cure! Great band, been listening to them since 1981, best song tracks without a doubt are: A Forest, Boys don’t cry and plainsong. absolute timeless classics. Was able to see them once with Siouxsie and the Banshees another legend of a band. Smith is an absolute genius on guitar, always writes amazing chord structures, incorporating various styles of international musical sounds and blending them into his own style of gothic, post punk.

I like the Cure too, but I think their mid 80s + stuff was even better. '(Kiss Me) X3' is a great double album with double the fun and 'Disintegration' from 1989 is one of the BEST from that period, period. 'Love Song' comes from a time when I would soon enter a serious love relationship and it gives me great memories. As for the Cure being 'gothic' post-punk, I always thought the 'gothic' was more image than sound for this band. No matter. Congratulations to the Cure!
And congratulations to Roxy Music too! It's way overdue. I remember seeing their albums with the women on the covers as a kid, thinking they were by a woman singer named 'Roxy' and wondering, 'Is this music lush piano ballads or what?'. Pianos, uh-huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... LOL. I started getting into the REAL Roxy Music when I was 13 and more 'aware' of music. That band has inspired SO many bands I grew up with like Duran Duran, U2, Cheap Trick, the New Wave, alternative just like David Bowie did. I saw Bryan Ferry live 2 years ago, he is such a suave master showman and he's a charmer (ask the ladies!). His solo music is good too. Roxy revolutionized rock'n'roll, their 'Avalon' CD is an aphrodisiac and great for dates.
And congratulations to Def Leppard too. I saw this terrific band live 2X and their shows get better with time. I remember when the 'Pyromania' album kicked off the glam metal wave of the 80s. 'Popular' music radio in my hometown was very boring before that, and MTV sure helped. 1983 was a big turnaround in music, for the better.

Rapper should not be included in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

I generally agree on the rap category. However RUN-DMC is in because they didn't just do hip-hop, they made rap-rock. They played instruments and they added their rhymes to r'n'r, especially heavy metal. That has in itself inspired countless bands in genres like alternative (Faith No More), rapcore, rap-metal-core (Rage Against The Machine) and all those godawful 'nu metal' bands like Limp Bizkit. The influence is tremendous.

Viva Roxy Music! It's about time. It took forever to get RUSH inducted too. Now we need to get Kraftwerk in as well. Like Roxy, they revolutionized rock'n'roll and invented its future. Dismissing them again this year is absolutely disgraceful!
