Love all the “I didn’t watch it but I’m going to praise them because they are Japanese!” Quotes.

Japan is really bad at noticing anything major their citizens do outside Japan. Movies, games, sports etc. Good for them though. I can’t wait to see all the weird criticism the actors are going to get now that the show is on the netizens radars lol.

But seriously good job, shogun was a fun ride

The series is gorgeous, but it is very clear the Japanese public was not its target audience, so I don't find surprising many people inside Japan is not aware of how good it is. That is likely to change thanks to the Emmys won, and hopefully it will inspire others and things of similar quality will follow.

Written by a Westner and filmed in Canada. What am I missing?

Looking forward to the next season.

Kudos to the cast and crew of Shogun.

As Hiroyuki Sanada said in one of his speeches, when East meets West and work together, miracles can be created. Good things can happen.

Looking forward to the next installment and hope that it can live up to the scale and beauty of the first season.

The scenery in Shogun is absolutely gorgeous.

Makes me want to book a ticket to Canada.

Most Japanese people haven’t watched it or will not watch it! Same goes with foreigners who are obsessed with Japan and are praising it without even watching 2 minutes of it!

What’s more surprising is that it took so many years for Hiroyuki Sanada to be given the real recognition for his excellent acting skills! I’ve seen him in so many series and movies and the guy is a real naturally talented actor. Despite being given a medal of honor in 2018 by the Japanese Government, he wasn’t really appreciated by the average Japanese person who always praised other Japanese actors above him. But now that he has got an Emmy they’ll surely appreciate him and you’ll hear his name everywhere in Japan!!!

Shogun is packed with 'invisible CGI' where you don't expect to find it. “There are over 150 visual effects shots in this field,” Cliett points out. “The reason why is because we filmed this in a particular area that's not mountainous in British Columbia…

"Game of Thrones in 17th-century Japan"

An incredibly dumb take by an overrated games developer.

Shogun is good TV but also overrated.

New Zealand should celebrate the Emmy won by the NZ actress..

Fumi Nikaido commented how different the productions were in USA/Canada (filmed mostly in Vancouver, CA) compared to Japan. Lamenting how the agency system in Japan means often parts are given based on agency concerns, and not merit from a audition process. Younger actors have the ability to voice opinions and concerns. The union rules in the west prevent many of bad ways talent agencies and studios in Japan operate.

An incredibly dumb take by an overrated games developer.

There is a huge difference between you personally not liking something as much as other people and that something being overrated.
