The most bizarre thing that I’ve heard! Escaping from the real world by watching REALITY shows...lol
leighkf
Hey Jim, doesn't that action happen daily in America even before this Corona Outbreak ??

My wife will be sad. Walking Dead's season finished last week and now Terrace House. Now I could finally watch what I want Monday nights lol

Finally! These sort of shows never work in Japan because their personalities are about as exciting as a blank sheet of paper.
commanteer
Obviously, they do work - this show is very popular. May not appeal to people who prefer more vulgar entertainment about white trash tiger breeders and criminals.

You're on the other side of the spectrum. Boring personalities sitting around talking endlessly as if they are saying something funny, smart or interesting (which they are not). I could sit next to a couple at Starbucks and hear the exact same mindnumbing dribble.

A lot of ladies will have less drama to watch.

Nah. I don't watch much TV - could live without it fine. I don't think you will hear any enlightening conversations from the people on reality TV anywhere. The ones on Western TV strike me as shallow, ambitious and amoral narcissists - not the sort of people I would want to be around.
If you want interesting conversation, reality TV is not the place to go. There are plenty of alternatives.

I must admit to enjoying the first Netflix season. The flatmates were lovely (compared to western counterparts) and there was something reassuring about the show.

Never seen it but I seriously doubt that the show is truly unscripted.

@Commanteer
I agree that actors and actresses do tend to be the most repulsive, narcissistic, nails-on-chalkboard types around ( the British types tend to be the worst ), but each to their own. I’ve boycotted anything with British celebs in it.
My less than cerebral entertainment is football. Since that’s suspended, I’ve been ‘playing’ the piano more while my wife sneers at my ability and ‘trashy’ tastes.
Snobs everywhere ;)
commanteer
Play louder... that should drown out the complaints.
Seriously, keep at it. If you like what you are playing and enjoy doing it, that's all that matters. Some of the most inspiring musicians are technically not very good. I'd rather hear something interesting played sloppily than something boring played perfectly.
Jimizo
Oh, yes. We enjoy the banter. She can put me to sleep with her stuff.
The point I was making was that sneering at this kind of TV ( I can’t stand reality TV or generally repulsive actors and actresses ), is easy, but I think most of us have our trashy things we enjoy. Is there anything not educational or highbrow you do?

"The halt came as a blow to viewers who look to the cast for light relief from the real world."
Wouldn't be a reality show if it were not real, and this virus is that and more, and the people as in danger as anyone else. It is a shame for this, and other shows, to have their seasons or episodes delayed, but it can't be helped.
commanteer
Yes, I watched quite a bit of Tiger King with all this free time. And I post here:)

...And nothing of value was lost, as the meme says.

A reality TV show halts production for now. Yawn. *Ain't that just awful? ***NOT. **

It's the crew and people behind the scenes that I feel sorry for.
Their livelihoods are at stake.
