World Order is a Japanese band with two albums to their name: World Order released in 2010 and 2012 released in…well, I think the title makes it fairly obvious. Formed by choreographer and former mixed martial artist Genki Sudo, most of World Order’s videos feature of the band dancing perfectly choreographed robotic dance routines in public places and have gained them quite a following on YouTube as well as landing them some high-profile ad campaigns for companies such as Toyota and Dydo.
The band’s latest video, for the song “Informal Empire”, was released on Nov 7 and features the band performing their trademark dance moves in the midst of London. The synthesized vocals sing lyrics in English, French and Japanese, and the electronic beat is so catchy it’ll have you wanting to get up and try the dance moves yourself.
The group performs their routines in front of famous London locations while bemused onlookers film them with their smartphones, no doubt thinking to themselves: “Those crazy Japanese are at it again!” One of the highlights is the slow-motion robot walk across Abbey Road, recreating the scene from the famous Beatles album cover of the same name.

This video made my day. Loved it. I wish more Japanese performance artists would go international as they are so creative.

A technical point I guess. I like the idea behind their message but WWII footage doesn't really express soft power, at least not in the informal empire sense. Although I wouldn't know how to express that in a four minute video.

Another great video! I like that they're gaining popularity outside Japan.

Love these guys. Their songs might not be memorable, but their videos are always a treat for the eyes. Precision stuff. Brilliant.

These guys are great. I wonder why they refer to World Order as a band. Group, yes, band, no.

I wish Genki Sudo was still fighting, but I'm glad he's found this other avenue to express himself.
