Japan’s 'girl culture' goes global with Jakarta show in January

Fuji Television is collaborating with W media, planning/production company of Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC), to stage “TGC Night in JAKARTA 2017 produced by TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION” on January 12, 2017.

Japan’s leading girls’ event, Tokyo Girls Collection is a biannual pageant that commenced in August 2005. “Sending Japanese girls’ culture to the world” is its main theme.

Indonesia is a burgeoning market and a pro-Japanese country. It has a tremendous amount of potential and the “TGC Night in JAKARTA 2017” will be a milestone into this exciting market, Fuji TV said in a press release. Active TGC models and stylists will be present at the event where Japanese girls’ brands making their debut in Indonesia will be showcased for a closer look into their cutting edge trends. The guest list will include VIPs from the Indonesian fashion industry and political/business circles, local media, celebrities and other influential leaders.

Fuji Television and Fuji Creative Corp are working together with Global TV, an affiliate enterprise of Indonesia’s largest media conglomerate Media Nusantara Citra, to co-produce "Kawaii-Jepang," a fully original program targeted at local young adults. “TGC Night in JAKARTA 2017” is a promotional event that links to "Kawaii-Jepang," all part of an ongoing effort by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication’s “Model Projects for Overseas Development of Broadcast Content over Terrestrial Television.”

Pretty bad when you have to toss stuff like this in articles, see it a lot:

Indonesia is a burgeoning market and a pro-Japanese country

If I think of where I am from & how it relates to another country its rare when you would even think to put something like the above into the conversation, especially if it was about fashion............

Indonesia is a burgeoning market and a pro-Japanese country.

Yeah, why not throw in the fact that Japan was a victim of WW2.

So, will Fuji Television get taxpayers-funded assistance to promote themselves in Indonesia, based on the fact that Indonesia is pro-Japan and therefore a likely market?

"Pro-Japanese Country," is meaningless, press-release fluff.

Is there, in fact, a database somewhere with "pro" and "against" nation?

This comment is so poor on a lot of different lines. It's a ludicrous generalisation, it's just bizarre and serves no purpose whatsoever, and it instills a stupid Trump-level zero-sum way of thinking about anything

Shame it's not "women"; but then, Japan is well known to drool over underage girls anyway, and to promote it to boot.
