Johnny Depp was a musician before becoming an actor and had helped out many music albums as a guitarist FYI
(Not sarcasm^^)

Depp is a passable guitarist with no distinctive style, but a better singer. Beck needs a singer to do these covers, and they sound promising. I am looking forward to hearing these because Beck is playing - happy to listen to anything he does. He just keeps getting better over the years and never rests on his past hits.

He can hold his own on guitar. He knows what he's doing and is good. But I wouldn't pay to see him play. Those who don't play guitar and know little about guitar think he's fantastic. Those who do play guitar and know about it, think he's just all right.

True. He was the first "big" musician I saw. He kicked off a concert that also featured Savoy Brown and Jethro Tull. That would be around 1970. When I arrived in Japan ten years later, I was a little surprised that he was also very well-known.

I agree.

Beck always was that way. I remember his 'Flashback' album in 1985 which had a hit cover of 'People Get Ready'. The video got a lot of MTV airplay, Rod Stewart sang the lyrics. A perfect match.
And teaming up with Johnny Depp sounds promising too.

Anyone brave enough to attempt a cover version of Master Uilleann Piper Davy Spillane’s “Midnight Walker”
deserves a listen. Depp and Beck certainly have great taste in covers, but I'd guess, Johnny's probably a better actor? Best of luck to him though, he's been through enough.

I’m glad Depp got his day in court, but this album is a hard pass.

No thanks. Depp may be a nice guy but for some reason he thinks he's a great musician---nope.
