I went to a Ramones concert once. I was deaf for weeks following.

Same. Loudest band I ever saw. After about 3 songs I couldn't even tell them apart. All I could make out was 1234. That guitar probably belongs in the Guinness Book for the most noise made.

I saw the Ramones four times when I was in college. The first time was in 1990 and it changed my world forever. As for the 'loudest', that honor goes to Motorhead. They were the loudest band I had ever seen, even the rumbling bass was overwhelming.

A Ramones show started out with seeing them walking on stage thru the dry ice and the PA played 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'. Then, Johnny's guitar twang and CJ shouts, '1-2-3-4!' and all hell breaks loose. The slam-dancing makes your legs stiff, you sweat so hard even your underwear gets soaked. Yet you just can't stop, the music is sooooooo energetic, frenetic, electric, exciting - ROCK AND ROLL.

The Ramones made a tremendous impact and influence despite the fact that all they wanted to do was make rock'n'roll fun and adventurous again, free it from the corporate radio dufuses and the milksops.

Punk, speed metal/thrash, glam metal, grunge, alternative, indie, more. Thing is, as an aftereffect we now have a bunch of chumpy bandwagoning pseudo-'punk' bands with no clue as to what punk rock really is or is about. That's what happens when you're an innovator. Look at the good and bad that Kraftwerk, Roxy Music and even the Rolling Stones inspired to see what I mean. Hey, ho! Let's go!

R-A-M-O-N-E-S, R-A-M-O-N-E-S, RAMONES FOREVER!
