Actor Junichi Ishida, 55, and AneCan model Keiko Mayama, 31, took part in an event in Tokyo this week to celebrate the start of “Happy Office Lady,” a free website for young working women who can have their queries concerning health, fashion, love and business answered online (in Japanese at http://www.happy-ol.com/).
Ishida revealed at the event that his plan to surprise fiancee and pro golfer Riko Higashio, 33, with a ring out on a golf course didn’t quite make the cut. Ishida went golfing with Higashio and several others recently and put a ring in the hole on the last green, hoping to surprise her when she picked up her ball.
Her putt came up short, but she was given the green light to finish anyway. The ring stayed in the hole, and shocked by this unforeseen development, Ishida asked Higashio to put the flag back in the hole, and was finally able to have her notice the ring inside.
Ishida went on to say things don’t always go the way you want them to, and said that he had only been able to convey about half of his feelings to Higashio’s father, Osamu, 59, former manager of the Seibu Lions. Osamu seems less than pleased with the upcoming marriage, recently comparing his own resistance to the Berlin Wall.
Ishida said he interpreted this as meaning it would one day come down, and pledged to keep at it.

i would say the score is more like a Double bogey since grandpa is mixed into the picture now.

The Berlin Wall stood for 28 years, I don't think sockless ojisan has that much time left!

It can't be an accident, having the words green and bogey in the same sentence, can it?

what amazes me is that any woman actually wants to even date this scumbag, much less actually be in a relationship deeply enough to even THINK about marriage with him.

This struck me too. So, not being up to score on Scandal Japan, I asked the wife. She pointed out that the bride-to-be's father had himself been notoriously involved in an affair scandal, and thus this might be a bit of daughter's revenge on dad.

I don't care about this guy's bogey, but thanks for the site full of happy office ladies.

Dear me. If I have a bogey I make sure to remove it before anyone else notices. I certainly wouldn't want my bogeys on the internet.

Classic.japanese always give each other putts.Helps keep everyone`s score down! Looks like he got a birdy not a bogey. I thought it was a pretty clever proposal though.Being Japanese and all that would have been tough for her to say no to him in front of the other members of her golfing group.Points to sockless ojisan for strategy!

I would never marry a woman that puts his father's opinion before mine. If she doesn't love him enough yet, she should just say it. Don't put the father in the middle of the couple.

He is actually very romantic, it is a very nice idea to hide the ring in the golf playground but still I do not understand why Riko has to go for a man like him. Maybe it is really love.
