Where there is a copyright infringement, there is a legion of lawyers.

“I am obviously very happy with the outcome of this case, and it looks like I'm not going to have to retire from my day job, after all. But at the same time, I am unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this are allowed to go to court at all,”

Ed Sheeran risked his career, the jury accepted his defence, he was humble, I read that he took the time to engage with Townsend's heirs.

Not enamored of Ed Sheeran music, I do respect his vindication to stand by his convictions.

Did the family not know about the trial? Could they not have pushed the funeral back?

If MC hammer could use superfreak melody in his can't touch this song, this verdict was a no brainer.

To y knowledge, I've never heard this song. Now I have to go and find it to compare for myself.

If MC hammer could use superfreak melody in his can't touch this song, this verdict was a no brainer.

I believe this was different as Hammer gave songwriting credits to Rick James and another person and probably paid or is still paying royalties. Puff Daddy pays Sting something like 5 grand a day for sampling "Every Breath You Take." Comes to somewhere around 44 mil to date!

Nothing can be claimed to be 100% original. We are all influenced in so many ways we just don't know.

@buchailldana When Ed left the court actually he was Thinking Out Loud" Let's Get it On

And as Ed left the court he said was planning to celebrate saying

" Let's get it on"

I am sure he wouldn't make this statement if he was in court suing someone for stealing his music. The problem is this is not the first time this guy was in court for ripping music, he was found guilty before this time he was thinking out loud how he could get away with it this time and he did. Saying he would quit music if he lost the verdict wouldn't have been his choice it would have been pressure from fans realizing he was a fraud ripping other artist off .

“I am obviously very happy with the outcome of this case, and it looks like I'm not going to have to retire from my day job, after all. But at the same time, I am unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this are allowed to go to court at all,” the singer said, reading from a prepared statement.
