Kawaii culture and the demand for girls to behave as if they have only 1 brain cell to share between them all is just as prevalent in SK as in JP.
Marvelous. Not.

yes, I can see some daring sides :)
Aly, the Korean girl bands are more into the sexy image, the Japanese ones are more into the kawaii stuff.
And while a lot has been said about the Korean and Japanese bubble pop bands, take a look at the pop/hip-hop girls in the West, they dress and act much more provocative and trashy.
At the end, it is just entertainment, nobody forces anybody to listen/watch whatever music genre. Myself I am not into pop (girls/boys, western, J, K, or whatever), but I also don't feel any need to judge the fans of a particular genre.

The exploitation continues.

This is a pretty harsh industry of course, but nobody is forcing them to join it.

I like girls in mini sukato.
As for their singing and dancing experience, all the same.
Going to nightclubs is much better - maybe not the season due to virus though ;(

In Korea where opportunities are scarce in white collar jobs then I would say that being able to make a living with ones physical attributes is high on the list for many people...

That's an interesting distinction. Never thought about it like that.
I don't know about more provocative. They are on the same level there, I'd say. Trashy- yes. You definitely hit the mark. That goes to the west. But at least they don't try to pretend to be stupid.
At any rate, I'm more old school house and pop, but never really liked hip hop or the culture surrounding it. Just felt that it was sending out the wrong messages to the younger generations. J&K POP was something I could never stomach from day one as it reminds me of Pachinko Noise.
But as we say, to each his own.

Another dumb creation in the Spice Girls mold.
This phenomina is for males who think with their sex organs, not their brains for musical tastes.
They will be here today, hot today but gone and forgotten tomorrow.
I've seen and met J-ROCKERS Acid Mother Temple (psychedelic) and Shonen Knife (lady punkers), as well as K-punk/noise band 57 (pronounced 'oh chill'). That's the stuff that needs attention because they are serious contenders. In America Shonen Knife is getting more notice from kawaii/cosplay fans as well as older adults bored with corporate radio crap being forced on us.

This article says nothing. Just fluff. Like the subject of the article. Pretty though

The average top tier K-pop singers individually earned $3.5 million in 2018 according to Korea's IRS. That's after deducting living expenses as business cost.
So for a $3.5 million salary, everybody is willing to be exploited, especially when the job doesn't involve shaking hands with perverts and shooting bikini/gravure photoshoots as it is customary in Japan.
This is why so many AKBers are trying to move to Korea, as it's a different level of money game.

Speak for yourself. There are plenty of people who wouldn't let themselves be exploited, even for that amount of money.

Time of their life but What happened to Japanese Groups? Relying on Korean Pop Culture and spending huge amount of money.
These Korean groups make Japanese album for fans they say but it's the business. Tell me One Japanese group that has made Korean Album? Japan needs to wake up!
