Never heard of them. I'd rather see Rain or SuperJunior.

Is K-pop big in Japan? I get lots of mixed feedback. In the US, K-pop is more popular than J (prob) cause large Korean population (especially LA). Imo, the korean gals are way hotter & can actually Dance. As for the guys....well a few yrs ago PSY put Korea on the map & flooded You Tube with their hit.

I live in Japan. K-pop is not so big in Japan anymore because, I think, the Japan-Korea relationship got REALLY bad in the past 2~3 years. I remember KARA and Girls Generation becoming a big hit and after that, many K-pop artists came to Japan. But tbh they all looked the same and soon most of them went back home. At the same time, Japan and Korea's relationship begun to worsen. A famous Korean town, Shin-okubo, used to be flooded with people who loves K-pop but now it's like "Where did they all go?". Although, hardcore K-pop fans are still alive in Japan, mostly on the internet and there are still many K-pop concerts going on in Japan.

They were all scared off by all the hate protests that has been going on weekly for the last 2.5 years.

Heh, you actually think there's a difference.

Japan is more musically diverse. I rather enjoy their rock. And a little bit of their pop. Truly, it's like all pop: only a few, select songs are acceptable. All the others, french, British, American, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, they're shit.

Personally, I only watch Kpop because they CAN dance, in fact, the bangtan boys are the most synchronized dancers I've seen in ages. They synchronize better than some of the national level breakdance groups in America and France, from the competitions I've seen. You may argue that their moves are easier, which is true, but keep in mind their main purpose is singing although they're not too great (tbh, no one can really sing nowadays unless its traditional folk or opera. They don't know how bad they sound until they sing together, then you can pick out all the vocal flaws in pop singers)

It brings me back to jrock because it tends to be quite interesting, as much of rock is, and is musically diverse. It's intensely crossover, and I especially favored the visual kei movement (rock is quite cool: if you've followed 我是歌手, tbh a shit show, but you'll see that tang weiwei is a fantastic vocalist that was classically trained and has a diverse musical range, she just favors rock and it's awesome)

The girls' dances, while childish and cheesy, are significantly harder than the boys'.

"Japan is more musically diverse."

But not as good, generally speaking. The K-pop bands sing in multi-part harmonies, swing their hips in time with the beat and dress and act like adults.

Most J-Pop bands are incompetent children/youths, AKB48 being a case in point. The older Japanese male fans might feel threatened, otherwise.

How is this adult?

Or this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9txzvu6eQuw (moving the butt all the time means the music is adult? Do you think they have talent? I call it "cute porn")

This is why music is such a crap today, with this kind of standards.

I prefer this

Weird. It's Japanese, but it's not childish at all. Yeah, it's rock, not pop, but it's great. And I have tons of other examples. Maybe you listen to the wrong things in Japanese music.

I like NEITHER K or J pop!!! Its all rather lame similar, boring, uncreative drivel, a dumbing down of EVERYTHING that music is supposed to be!

GW: I basically agree with you, even though you described not only most of Kpop and Jpop, but of pop worldwide today. I find only weird and wrong when people who speak about Jpop think only to idols groups like AKB48, I believe for example that Exile groups (both their male and female groups) are better than all the Kpop gropus I saw, both in dancing and singing (I prefer Japanese songs because they are more melodic and, as a consequence, emotional). Plus, sorry but I'm not able to tell apart one person from another in Kpop groups because the plastic surgery makes all people too much similar. Of course, also Jpop artists have plastic surgery but the effect is different, they don't seem all the same. Anyway, as I already said, modern pop music is mainly crap, everywhere, included Japan and Korea.

In general, I prefer J-rock all the way.
