Hurray for autotune, slick production, marketing, and teenage ARMY cultists!

JT "entertainment" news equals BTS, Adele, Disney, and anime.

Congratulations, but I don't like K-pop.

Cookie cutter Asian pop music is so sterile, soulless and boring. Surprised this garbage made it out of Asia.

I guess it’s exotic for westerners?

K-pop kings BTS win Artist of the Year

I can NEVER say BTS are artists! Slimy wiggly shiny worms, yes. Artists NO!

Their cult following have done a 'wonderful' job of burying the band's past that is filled with homophobic, racist & misogynistic comments & lyrics and other problematic behaviour such as posing inappropriately at a Holocaust Memorial, wearing Nazi inspired clothing and wearing clothing that celebrated Korean liberation by wearing a t shirt that glorified the atomic bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki...

The way the ARMY humiliated Trump was smart, slick and extremely amusing.

Whatever one's opinion of the music, this is really cool. Can you imagine AKB fans having either the political awareness or social media skills to organize something like this?

I understand that worked to effect. But it's depressing that social activism has to come wrapped up in such a commercially manipulative and culturally degrading package.

So, no, BTS is not entirely evil.

Surely any social activism is better than nothing, though? Even if it's from followers of shiny, surgically-altered, identikit pop stars.

Still, you can't deny their accomplishments as an Asian pop artist. What has Arashi accomplished when by collaborating with Bruno Mars to reach out to foreign audience? Did any of the Hollywood artists give a damn?

The ARMY is a cultural byproduct of the rapid popularization of the group. It's actually quite scary how cohesive they could be. I just hope that it doesn't become a political weapon than it already has.

Not my cup of tea but can probably understand why the younger generations are into it. The only Korean song I even loved was the theme song for the Seoul Olympics. Hand in hand by Koreana.
