KARA's first Japan tour to kick off April 14

All-female Korean pop group KARA will make their first concert tour of Japan, starting April 14. The group will perform in five cities-- Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka -- with two concerts at each venue.

The group has appeared at live events many times in Japan, but they usually only sang one or two songs to promote CDs or to meet and greet fans.

The Japan tour is part of the group's long-awaited Asia tour which kicks off in Seoul on Feb 18. The tour, titled "KARASIA," will also see the girls give concerts in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand.

Maybe they can give AKB48 some dance and singing and not being boring lessons.

They cater to different people and no music is inferior or superior.

Well of course, subjectivity in music tastes is a given. I find their Jpop material to be completely forgettable, boring and not catchy, compared to their Korean stuff. I mean, compare their first two Japanese singles (which were written and produced by Koreans) and everything else that came after (created by Japanese). Their music went down in quality big time.

Makes sense. Once you hit it big in Japan, you are raking in money. As Japan is the world's second largest music market, Kara will do its best to maintain its brand image and try to generate hits. I wish them success. However, I don't really understand why there must be comparison between Jpop and Kpop. They cater to different people and no music is inferior or superior. Sales is a big factor but not the whole picture.

I like their old stuff better...

Frankly the talent pool between Jpop and Kpop don't compare. Kpop recruits kids from their early teen years and make them go through grueling training before having them debut. Kara wasn't a group known for talent but more a cutesy group. Jpop tends to emphasize more on relatability. But in the end we're talking about manufactured pop music here...

Kara aren't bad for Asian pop. They sing in multi-part harmony and can actually shake their hips in time with the beat. They make AKB48 and others look like tone-deaf 8-year-olds.

Their Kpop stuff was much catchier than the bland, boring Jpop.
