KAT-TUN to hold concerts on 7 straight nights at Tokyo Dome

Pop group KAT-TUN will hold concerts on seven straight nights at Tokyo Dome from May 15 to 21, while the Yomiuri Giants are on the road, according to their agent Johnny's. Each concert will feature a different theme, Johnny's said.

KAT-TUN once held 11 mini-performances in one day, on Aug 27, 2002, before their CD debut. The group will try to set a new record at Tokyo Dome. About 385,000 fans are expected to attend the 1-week event.

seven straight nights at Tokyo Dome

just to prove there is no recession... in J-pop.

I think it is very unlikely they have that many fans.

AND

I think that their ploy is a waste of money and if they were thinking about their fans, they would give 7 free concerts to set their record that they only care about.

Try to suck as much money out of your fans while they still have it, is a complete lack of empathy on this group. Wonder why people illegally download?

People should be saving as much money as they can. The rainy days are here.

a complete lack of empathy on this group.

Not to mention their management!

Agree with Noborito. It is most likely the same 55,000 people buying tickets for each night. Or rather the parents of the teenage girls who will be buying them!

Definitely should be free if breaking the record is the purpose.

What they are allowed to churn out to the youth here --or anywhere-- is terrifying. BUT while in the UK, the States, Canada etc there ARE great bands with messages, intelligence who ROCK Japan just feeds its youth mass produced junk. How can KAT TUN or J-Pops in general inspire you to think?

Are they male or shemale?

It's all about image and marketing in Japan. There is very little 'talent' when it comes to singing and most J-Pop 'singers' haven't had any formal training. Look at Ayumi Hamasaki. She is deaf in one ear, has terrible range and can't sing on tune half the time. But.....she is marketed extensively and releases singles every other month. Of course there are exceptions when it comes to Enka and other genre.

All these boy bands look and sound about the same. Terrible that is. they have very little talent indeed. couldnt play an instrument if they had to. i agree that it is the same young girls going to the concert over and over again with moms money. yes. truly greedy trying to milk them for 7 concerts in a row. i guess there really is no accounting for taste.

meiwaku, you can go back for decades & the sounds of pop here are 99.9% the same boys or girls, its pretty mind numbing & they never have anything to say in any of their crap, admittedly I dont verify my last point wud drive me into the looney bin!

Vocally they aren't Gackt but they work hard and give a good show. You can't blame them or their managment or earning a pay check. It's no different then everyone else, it a job and they shouldn't be expected to inspire anyone. How many salary people think they are inspiring someone everyday the go to work. Telling people not to buy tickets is like telling people not to buy, eat, drive, or anything else that may be keeping you working these days.

I think it's a great idea and in that business it could be 40 people but they still perform just like there is 40,000. The show always go on.

it amazes me what tools and unisex dudes can produce, fool and get paid for it.

I'm 56 so I think all J-pop boy bands are absolutely awful. However, they don't pretend to cater for oyajis but for teenage girls who apparently don't worry too much about the music or the lyrics but love the fashions worn and of course, the "kawaii" factor. Pretty much the same with boy bands the world over...I even remember the Bay City Rollers back in the UK in the 70s! And anyway, we need people to keep spending money or those rainy days are going to persevere for a much longer period.

Shish! To think that people will actually go to have their ears filled with songs from guys who cant sing, but look cute. This is Japan, folks.

I used to pretty much hate all those glam bands in the 80s until GNR came along and told the truth. These J-boy bands are pretty much as fake and made up as 80s glam rock and Pop. I wish there was another GNR to come out and break the world out of its shlock.

"Wonder why people illegally download" KAT-TUN doesn't deserve even a packet of download...

I find it nauseating that Japanese youth are duped into thinking these useless, effeminate posers are fashionable and attractive.

This is exactly the kind of that most religions would say is proof of an impending apocalypse of some sort.

They are guys, right?

Are they male or shemale?

The word for so many Japanese boys/men today is: Metrosexual.

They are boys, not men by the way, even though they are in their 20's;)

in new york city its MetroSexual, in Japan its Asexual or at least ambi-sexual.

Women in Japan like these borderline shemales though. just look at the typical host for example. Thin to skinny with a hair style their mother would be proud of...

It's part of the culture, I mean just look at Japanese video games with their effeminate characters, etc. Men are out of fashion.

I am probably going to get yelled at for this, but I like to think that KAT-TUN is different from the rest. They have a Rapper, they have a very good beat-boxer, and some of them actually can play instruments and some do write their own music. They are unfortunately under the care of a pretty-boy factory, but I like to think that some of KAT-TUN's members do have skills beyond all the other bands from Johnny's Entertainment. No, they aren't like Gackt (by the way, comparing anyone to him would make them all seem like completely worthless entertainers because he is insane when it comes to the skills he has). And yes, they are J-pop. But I personally like to think they deserve a little more credit for the fact that they try to be unique and that they do have some skills, no matter home minuet they are to everyone else outside of the J-pop boy band world. There are reasons the majority of them want to go solo. And hey, if girls are willing to support their favorite band through the purchase of tickets, with or without their own money, so be it. Don't americans do the same for their favorite artists? It really seems no different. It's the same transaction of money for the same access to the same sort of desires.

The only guy worth looking at is on the bottom right. everyone else is scary

This is a 2 year old picture for a start. You aren't forced to listen to their music so stop bashing them. Everyone is entitled to look like they want and it's an achievement to be able to hold 7 days at Tokyo Dome, i bet most of the people who commented here wouldn't be able to sing and dance for 2 hours 7 days in a row.

yeah...people who just judge by the cover should shut up!they made it ...8 days in a row actually and it was a huge succes...these guys are really talented!but everybody with they're opinion (yeah...most of you didn't even hear a song from them and you're saying that they're bad...).tough I like gackt I don't really think he has such a good voice...I love KAT-TUN and you should know that I don't like their music because I like them, but I like them because of their music..
