Technically it was an amazing movie — but it just didn’t work as a piece of cinema. The realism and wildlife documentary feel of it was constantly snatched away from you with the film’s lighthearted and comedic dialogue.

As a tech demo, it was pretty amazing though.

The technology has progressed a long way since the first Toy Story. Makes you wonder what the next 25 years will bring.

The cartoon characters were cute, real animals are of course amazing to look at but really do not work in a cartoon movie. Why did they even try this?

Unlike other movies, there were no mocaps used - everything was created from scratch as animation

But Disney doesn't want it to be classified as an animated film, but rather like photo-realistic live-action film

Disney intentionally did not submit Lion King for the Oscar Best Animated Film category, nor any other award's animated category
