Actor Ken Watanabe, 52, will appear in an NHK documentary, "Tomorrow Beyond 3.11."
Cameras followed Watanabe and his actress wife Kaho Minami, 48, as they traveled to areas affected by the earthquake and resulting tsunami that devastated the Tohoku region on March 11, 2011, to see how the recovery process was proceeding. The couple are to appear in the first two episodes of the ongoing series.
The project was made possible as the result of a collaboration between Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, Singapore production company Bang Singapore, and Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
The documentary is to begin airing on NHK on April 8, from 10:05 p.m.

I think Ken Watanabe's interest in supporting the recovery efforts in Tohoku are very sincere. He was born and raised in neighboring Niigata-ken.

They didn't "get Ken in." Ken has been "in" since shortly after the tsunami devastation became apparent.

Oh! I'm sorry. I could have sworn you were implying that NHK brought Watanabe-san in on the documentary solely to help gather viewers. I was merely pointing out that Watanabe-san has been involved in the Tohoku situation LONG before this documentary was conceived and to imply otherwise does a dis-service to him.

love ken.

K.W. has been involved and using his star power to bring money and attention and relief to the Tohoku areas. He's great! And it is good to see his wife involved, as well. He is a great spokesman. As for his English, he had to learn every word. I admire him very much.

Oikawa - Thanks for the sarcasm; raised a friday morning smile... Alas, in the case of some viewers, I fear you may be right.

Err, yeah of course I was implying what you say. Which says nothing about Watanabe, only about NHK. Are you a member of his fan club or something?
oikawa
Which has nothing to do with this documentary.

Maybe you should keep that to yourself. :b

Good idea to get Ken in. 3/11 is not really important enough without a famous person to retain interest.

I like a bit of Ken, I do. Would like to see this.

Saw it on Discovery channel, seriously his English delivery is stale and boring, I had to turn the sound off. Better to get one of the news announcers to do the English.
