Kondo vs Trump: Make Cleaning Great Again

By SoraNews24

Self-professed “crazy tidying fanatic” Marie Kondo has been taking America by storm recently, transforming people and their homes for her hugely popular “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” Netflix series.

Kondo never fails to spark joy in the houses of the people she visits, but now it seems the decluttering expert has met her match in this video, which comes to us from GZERO media. The new clip sees Kondo stepping inside the White House to “make cleaning great again”, but it seems that this house is one she just can’t fix.

Take a look at the clip below.

Kondo then enters the White House, greeting the president with an enthusiastic “Konnichi wa!” before attempting to hug him.

It’s a frosty beginning, and one that continues as Trump begins to boast about “having more stuff than any president in the first two years”, including properties, hotels, business ties…and actual ties. This prompts Kondo to begin tidying his wardrobe, using her konmari folding method, which leaves him looking somewhat confused. However, he appears to understand the concept of “spark joy” when she likens it to the feeling he gets when he “sends tweets at 6 a.m.”

There’s another breakthrough moment when Trump realizes that the “very unfair treatment” he’s received from “the New York Times and other failing media” actually brings him joy.

Then, when Trump asks her why she’s speaking Japanese to him in the White House, she turns to camera and says, “It’s a symbol of decline in American power”. As many will know, this is referencing the now-deleted controversial tweet by American political activist and author Barbara Ehrenreich, who said “I will be convinced that America is not in decline only when our de-cluttering guru Marie Kondo learns to speak English.”

Kondo then goes on to suggest that Trump tidy up his foreign policies by sorting the items into categories like “allies” and “adversaries”. However, in the end, she herself concedes defeat, saying “I could not help this man”.

The political satire is part of the "Puppet Regime" series shown at the end of each episode of "GZERO WORLD with Ian Bremmer," which is broadcast on two public television stations in the U.S. The puppets offer a lighter look at political issues in the news, and Kondo is the latest celebrity to star in the series, which isn’t bad for a woman who got her start at her grandmother’s house in Miyazaki Prefecture.

Chip StarMar. 21 06:59 pm JSTI did. Hee hee! Never knew Trump could understand Japanese!

Of course he can, just ask him. Tee Hee!

Bet he don't know how to say 'Domo arigato'. He's too vain to be grateful or to show gratitude. After all, he thinks he's a god!

OTOH, when I was in the US Navy they'd have you clean up everything. They really get obsessively 'crazy clean'! Any other Navy vet can tell you all about that. They don't like 'gear adrift' - you don't leave anything laying around!

The obsession with stowing everything in the Navy dates back to tying down everything so it won’t get thrown around in rough seas. The Navy has always been more about traditions and customs than any other service. That said, in army helicopter maintenance shops, all tools, parts, screws, etc had to be placed in the proper spot on a canvas with outlines drawn on it. We jokingly called it the mass murder of tools and parts, because it resembled the chalk lines of a murder scene investigation.

No one has picked up on the fact that this woman has been thru a Japanese education system with 7 years of learning English at school and doesn't speak a word of it, or is unwilling to speak it.

That's because it's irrelevant.

Just an FYI: Being organized and keeping a tidy home is not OCD. It is simply being tidy and organized.

I am personally much more comfortable in a home that is neat, tidy, and organized.

Alfie NoakesToday 07:16 am JSTAnyway, my grandmother used to do this. She called it tidying up and it was common all over the world, but without the veneer of quasi-spiritual gobbledegook that has earned Marie Kondo a fortune in the US.

Reality TV in America means that anybody can be famous, even you. Remember what Andy Warhol said?

Marie Kondo is OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) for sure, nice lady and all, but OCD folks need to chill

What an ignorant thing to say. OCD is a mental illness, you can't just decide you don't want to have OCD anymore and it will magically go away.

Kenji FujimoriToday 01:25 pm JSTI dated someone like Marie and boy was it odd. I'd come to her house and she's automatically staring at my shoes and bag on terminator lock down mode she picks up her mini broom and mop set and follows me wiping the floor almost literally everywhere...

I've dated a girl like her too and OCD ain't no joke. They keep making sure things are 'secure' or in place and sometimes it can get really crazy. Marie, if she really has that condition, managed to make a reality TV series centered on that aspect.

Kondo is overhyped sensation that works only in America (Not for long though, probably next 2 years) but never the rest of the world.

She hit the jackpot in right time when Americans needed to have some kind of activeness from their laid back days.

MALA: Make America (the world's) Laughingstock Again (i.e. like in the days when Bush43 attempted to sound presidential).

Trump pledged to undermine US institutions, and at that he's been successful.
