"I think that compulsory military service could be a good thing in many countries to instill a sense of purpose and discipline into young people"

This can be true for some people. My own case is testimony. However, Lee Harvey Oswald, Charles Whitman, Timothy McVeigh, John Allen Muhammad, Nidal Malik Hasan, and others illustrate that military service cannot make a bad person good and may make him worse.

Wow...I can't believe he is dating Kim Tae Hee. I wonder how that romance started....

I am having problems understanding this: Kim’s agency admits that the two have dated for a month. Rain’s agency neither denies nor confirms it.

I think that compulsory military service could be a good thing in many countries to instill a sense of purpose and discipline into young people - or better yet, a system whereby instead you could choose to spend a year in civil positions such as in hospitals or retirement homes. However, cutting off somebody from their social life, not letting people unwind outside duty? Unnecessarily harsh...

Like he had a choice!

He had, and that's why people are upset. Riches and celebs can buy themselves a pretext to not do their service, medical conditions or whatever. And most people expect that from pop stars as even if that's unfair. But his PR team had calculated that was better to do it, for his image of macho hero. Of course, they counted that he'd benefit from VIP class favors. He just had to not show himself, he could party in his place or abroad. But he had to take a pin up window-shopping in the streets of nowhere else but Seoul... Hey, you can't eat your cake and have it. I am not fan of paparazzi revelations, but this time, good.

South Korea is a military state that pretends to be free and its people seem to have the mindset that punching and screaming will solve everything. Monkeys flinging pooh. Let me rephrase that, copycat monkeys flinging pooh.

That is a common trait among Koreans, truth be told. It's a culture where the one who can raise his voice the loudest in an argument wins. As for "flinging pooh," that's what Koreans do when they demonstrate, literally.

"Rain joined the military in October 2011" Like he had a choice! South Korea is a military state that pretends to be free and its people seem to have the mindset that punching and screaming will solve everything. Monkeys flinging pooh. Let me rephrase that, copycat monkeys flinging pooh.
