Well, if every CD only has 4 songs, and some are compilations "best of", this is explainable.

I wonder how many have all 50 CD's?

For commercial and economic goals, most of new released CDs have two songs or four songs. Usually two songs with singer's voice, and two songs only with instrument sounds, other CDs have two or three styles of music genres to meet different expectations of listeners - J-pop, Jazz and Ballad. For Kumi Koda, her physical outlook is different to Ayumi Hamayashi - one wih more feminine and the other with rebel or liberal. In 2006, she released 13 single CDs, one compilation album, one studio album, and tour live concert. "Sexy and fashionable" may hit male fans more than female fans. But some female fans still like female singers for different perspectives - fashion style and sexy outlook.

What's wrong with a 2 song or 4 song CD? Does that exclude her from being a successful artist? She IS successful, regardless of what all the naysayers believe. And yes, she DOES have wonderful legs. And hair. And fingernails. And arms. And dance moves. And... and... and...

DEFINITELY! She has a few catchy tunes, but on the whole not really worth the hype. Still, she CAN be quite sexy.

Of course. The Japanese music industry isn't designed like that. Quantity and the overall Yen.

Still that's a lot. I know in Japan that's a very normal thing, but anywhere else "50" hit singles over the span of 11 years? Marketing and quantity are what makes the music industry thrive in Japan. I can understand "15 or even 20" hits in in 10 years, but "50" is kinda high.

Of course she looks fantastic! My beef is like with most J-artists, there is a whole lot of beauty out there, but not a whole lot of talent.

Once again style trumps substance in J-pop. "Going sexy" is the standard formula for these "singers". This is hardly news. The covers of most of these CD's look like they could be from graveure magazines.
