Kumiko Goto becomes Kirin beer goddess

Actress Kumiko Goto, 35, will appear in a commercial for Kirin Breweries from Wednesday in the form of a mineral goddess who offers up their new type of "third category" beer, called "KIRIN 1000 Endless Clear."

Filmed in Spain, it is the first commercial in two years for Goto, who lives in Switzerland with husband and former F-1 driver Jean Alesi, 45, and their three kids. She appears in the commercial in a heavenly white dress and signals to the sun above to shine through. She then opens her arms wide and directs them to the sea below, which swells up to give birth to "KIRIN 1000." The new low-malt beer contains hard water that boasts 1,000 milligrams of magnesium per liter.

Goto doesn't have any lines in the commercial, leaving viewers to focus on the endless blues of the sky and ocean, not to mention her flowing figure and majestic pose. British rock band Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" plays in the background.

"KIRIN 1000" goes on sale Wednesday. The company expects to sell more than 6 million cases of the product this year and is targeting men in their 30s to 50s who like to try new alcoholic beverages.

What kind of beer goddess offers third category beer?!?!

Obviously, one that needs third-category beer goggles to see.

Is this about beer or about Goto? Goto . . . where? The deep blue sea? Or the realm of intoxication?

what constitutes as a beer goddess?

Ultradude -- Actually, you are correct. I saw it as well going to/from Roppongi and Hiroo. Can't say it made my mouth water for this product. But then again, I would rather drink almost anything than a "3rd-category" beer. That is an oxymoron as far as I am concerned.

Actually, I must admit I am wrong after seeing the poster on the Hibiya-sen earlier.

I love Kumiko san...and Miho chan too ! I remember when i saw the first time Miho in Waratte ii tomo with Tamori san, she was 15 years old, cute and now she is a very beautiful lady, living in Paris... Kumiko san too, a little younger than Miho, was very cute and when she got married with Alesi, i was jealous !

Sure does look like Miho Nakayama. Did they post the wrong picture?

If Kirin wants to make me drink beer, they have to use in the CMS somebody cool, handsome, intelligent, like for example Hiroshi Abe, Ken Hirai, Kotooshu, Aran.

Wow, this commercial checks all the boxes for "creative" here in Japan. We have the silly sun and sea imagery. We have the required celebrity. And, we have the western music/song. Well done. By the way, who comes up with these insipid names anyway -- Kirin 1000 Endless Clear? How can a product that is yellow.gold in color be clear?

i know some men drink anything that is labelled alcohol. Then they come and post on JT. After a few drinks they can see this woman as a goddess too.

I wish they wouldn't use the word "BEER" because beer it isn't.

A quick google search confirms it IS Nakayama Miho..good one PeaceWarrior.

Sorry but I don't think this is a picture of Goto Kumiko. I think this is Nakayama Miho.

Finally! Thank God(dess)! Finally a beer with 'hard water' and 1000 mgs of Magnesium per liter. Just what I was waiting for! Cant wait for a fourth catagory of fake beer to come out...

I saw the posters with her for this new 'beer' yesterday on the train. She definitely looks older than 35 these days...

The Romans had Bacchus, Japan has Kumiko Goto. I think she's a vast improvement. Hopefully she doesn't get surly and violent like Bacchus.

She looks a lot older than 35. Third category beers are not nice. A sign of economic hardship that they are so popular perhaps.

can she go up against Sugimoto Aya in the All-Japan Cougar Pagent?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Worship the goddess of beer. I like that(but will I like the beer?)

She keeps getting hotter with age.
