Kurara Chibana looking for Mr Right

Former Miss Universe Japan and television personality Kurara Chibana, 29, launched her new book "Make it up as you go" on Sunday. Although the title of her book espouses the virtues of flying by the seat of one's pants and doing whatever works, Chibana told the assembled press that when it comes to men, she prefers the sensible type.

She strongly denied rumors that she is dating kabuki actor Kikunosuke Onoe, 33. "We're not a couple. He's just an artist I admire very much," she said. "I'm turning 30 next year, which is an important year for Japanese girls, so I'm hoping to meet Mr Right sometime soon."

Get a life. The most important thing is to be Ms. Right yourself. Finding the right man is not going to change you into a better person than you already are. Learn how to be interesting, kind, caring and unselfish. Model yourself after a women you admire. Work hard at changing your character defects. If you are not sure what they are, ask your mother. Become more well-rounded. Learn to be happy with yourself, first. No man, no matter how right is going to make you happy. You will only be happy if you are happy inside first. Know what you are looking for in a man such as common values and similar culture, ability to forgive and be forgiven, ability to be challenged and confronted without defensiveness, and common goals. What you choose today will have an impact on what you get later. Choose wisely. Rise above past mistakes. You are half-way to Mr. Right by seeing what you have done wrong in the past. Look in places where you expect to find someone with the qualities you value. Expect a human being, not someone perfect. No one is going to be everything you have dreamed of. Give the guy a break. You already know that you are not Ms. Perfect. He makes mistakes too. Allow for human frailty. Last of all, be patient. It may take time to discover what appeals to you and why. There are good men out there. You simply need to know where to look.

Despite your meticulous analogy, I highly doubt she will read it :/ But, you can mail her agency, and they will put it through to her as fanmail for you.

Lovely open mouth.

Her biological clock is ticking...

Ah Masswipe, thanks for the condescending tone. Thing is, the way she stated it makes it sound like there is a new 7,5,3 day or something for 30 year old women. "Special" not at all. Just desperation to find a man so she can feel complete. Sad when someone as beautiful and successful as her still buys into the crap that a women isn't someone until she is Mrs. Someone.

everyone can reply with positive or negative comments. For your subjective viewpoints, be polite and respect others. Don't be a trouble-maker when you can do more better things to society.

"Why is turning 30 important to Japanese girls? Did I miss something?"

Yes, apparently, you did. So, you live in Japan and you're unaware of the fact that its society is one of the most obsessively age-conscious on the planet? The Japanese adhere very closely to the idea of a standardized life cycle. You achieve certain goals at certain years in your life. For women, being married or close to being married by age 30 is considered important. This is the way it is, for better or for worse. I'm sure you find this bizarre, incomprehensible, idiotic, whatever--but Japanese organize their lives around a standardized life cycle. Won't change unless the Japanese decide it should change.

I'm having a hard time to post everything all in one, Hmmm? Tech problems perhaps? Well the thing is that yeah, Mr. Right and Ms. Right does not exist in this planet or universe ok? People need to get a LIFE!!

I love the time the spends trying to explain things even though some of the things I already know but just the sheer joy of listening to him and let him express himself in such supportive way of trying to teach me new things every day, that's what I love the most about him.

He's actually 8 years older than me so that sort of makes him give me the famous speech..You should listen to me! I'm older and I have more experience in many many things" to which I respond: "ok then, educate me honey, since I feel like a little girl"

Tmarie is right on the money as usual...The only person looking for "Mr.Right" is Ms.Chibana here.. I found Far-from-perfect Mr.Blue Witch and are very happily married to this day. :)

Ah Japanese women and their obsession with age, blame it on their "culture of cute". That's why you see 30 something single women trying to act "kawaii". Gotta get "Mr Right" before you're too old and he's ditching you for some high school student.

"Not my type at all"

Total babes with brains aren't your type? Too intimidating?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not my type at all... good luck to her.

Nah because from the sounds of it, we're all married and she isn't! MUhahahahahaha! Seriously though, why the 30 year panic now?? I figured once they got over the Xmas cake things would be fine. Seems 30 in the new panic age based on this and what my students said in class today. Funny thing was, it was the females all freaking out about age while the guys didn't care. Women creating their own misery.

Woooooo..... do I detect sounds of bitterness and envy from some thirty-somethings here? Mirror mirror on the wall, who is gonna fall?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sorry girl, the Japanese have more important things to do now than buy your ridiculous book. The nation is in peril and you are talking about such idiotic things? Mr. Right, for you, would be a foreigner who can take you out of the country and away from the nuclear danger.

Novenachama...

Learn how to be interesting, kind, caring and unselfish

You're right on the mark with that. I've met soo many that were selfish, boring and without conversation.. kind yes.. but they maintained such a stoneface!

Like other Japanese women, Kurara Chibana has her vision and viewpoint from her career to her personal life. Her new book sounds naturally appealing.

Japanese here and I am NOTHING like her, fortunately.

Like other Japanese women at this age, she obviously has a misguided view of the reality of marriage and life in general. If she marries just because she's turning 30, I'll lay money on a divorce within 10 years!

30 the millstone? So what does that make "me"? I just turned 30 and I know in my heart I'll never be and look better than right now, this age is the beginning of what life is really like. I'm sooo happy I'm NOT in my 20's anymore. Time to get down to business with Mr. Bluewitch... :P

Cheers! :)

Like other Japanese women, Kurara Chibana has her vision and viewpoint from her career to her personal life. Her new book sounds naturally appealing. I hope to read it and treasure her own perspectives. She must meet her Mr. Right when she opens her soul like she answered the press. She can connect, share and converge with her better-half. She looks fit and confident in her warm-colored dress. Her 30th birthday or age will be her milestone of happiness. Novenachama has reflected more life-and-personal experiences, thanks for sharing opinions.

Over here! how about your college sempai? :-D

For a woman like her no wonder it's hard to find "Mr. Right" here in Japan. There is no way she wants to be a stay at home wife and wipe the snot from her husbands nose every time sneezes. She does not come across as the type to cow-tow to her mates every wish either.

Release that statement the second you want to sell your book... meh

a miss universe japan, 29 yo and no boyfriend? unbelievable.

Maybe, she isn't a Ms. Right. I have a few friends? that are models...talk about the pinnacle of "Wagamama"...

Although the title of her book espouses the virtues of flying by the seat of one’s pants and doing whatever works, Chibana told the assembled press that when it comes to men, she prefers the sensible type.

So she doesn't believe the advice of her own book? Not much of an advert, is it?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

30 is her milestone or millstone??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

MYRB2011 - Sorry, what do you mean "30 is her milestone?"

She'll still look the same well into her 40s or even 50s. 60s is when I'll start losing interest.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Make it up as you go"-sounds interesting. And she's looking for Mr. Right too-sounds good to me also. In fact, I would be happy to test her theory on a date with her to see if it works to "Make it up as we go." Tee Hee!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Mr. Right, how ironic, that's my name!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

then I recommend her the inspirational song "Mr. Right" from Mickey Avalon. The dreaded 30, when the shomi kigen expires in Japan...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For her newly released book, I will treasure it as she explained in the press. She looks fit physically, stylishly and energetically confident and open. The age of 30 is her milestone, I believe so.
