Model-singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, 19, announced this week that her world concert tour will start in February. She made the announcement during her first concert before 9,000 fans at the Budokan in Tokyo.

The colorful Kyary will kick off her global tour in Belgium (Feb 8), then France (Feb 10), before playing in 20 different venues in over 10 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

Since she made her singing debut last August, Kyary has been on top of hit charts abroad as well as receiving great exposure on YouTube. Why can't we all just accept the fact that some people enjoy kyary's music, and some don't. Some people like Justin Bieber, One Direction etc. and some detest them. But there's no need for vitriolic comments... At least respect the people that like the way she is now, and now only. Who cares if she isn't successful in the future? Come on, seriously.

It's an arena tour, so 8,000 at least at each venue, hopefully Australia!

Shed probably hold small concerts in bars across europe and comes back and says "I finished world tour concerts" in music japan or something. I meant a concert where you buy a beer for 10 euros then the ticket comes free. Thats most of j bands do when they say they are gonna do world tour.

I happen to like Kyary Pamyu Pmayu - her music is catchy, her stage show is inventive, and she's cute but not in an annoying way. She's got a good sense of humor, and doesn't seem to take herself too seriously. I wish her luck!

This girl's been around for a long while and she's already very successful even without her singing career. I don't get why the first instinct of some people is to bash. You say that don't know her? Then move on. Why do you have to waste your time commenting that she's a nobody (she's actually not)?

9000 fans! wow! that going to fill Wemberly stadium ....(not)

Lady G portrays sadism slash masochism slash satanism slash sexual slash raw meat fashion . I love lady G, but I don't know why people compare her to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

Does Kyary Pamyu Pamyu also portray sadism slash masochism slash satanism slash sexual slash raw meat fashion in her music?

HuH? I don't get it! Maybe because of the words "Fashion" and "Monster" ??? Do Lady G own these words?

Those posting that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is a Lady Gaga wannabe are either hopelessly America-centric, painfully frumpy haters of both artist, or simply negative about everything new and fresh.

Lady Gaga is naturally brilliant, yes, but so is Kyary in a totally different way - she is no rip off artist. She is a 100% genuine exponent of a totally Japanese, home grown decora culture and this has a tremendous world-wide appeal among young people (and many older people too).

So, stop your matronly, culturally pretentious finger waving and disapproval, watch Pon Pon Pon, and have a good time like the rest of us.

I guess lots of commenters don't live in Japan like I do.

She is indeed a talented girl, know why? Because now she has a career and she is famous. She can think about something as simple as 100% or fake eye-lashes and she can make a awesome colorful song out of it. Now that takes skill...comparing her to all those "Rap" singers that sing about their drinking...and sleeping around I would say she has a bright future. Her songs are neutral and open....nothing negative in her songs... I like her a lot, at first I found her annoying but she is actually a really down to earth girl who is a lot of fun!

Her Lady-Gaga-wannabe act

Are you serious? Lady Gaga wanna-be? Perhaps I'm missing all the almost naked people, lesbianism, gay and all the other stuff Gaga uses on her videos and lyrics that has the religious people furious.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Fashion Monster? Um can you say Lady Gaga ripoff?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

PON PON PON!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@ucabrasi Actually, they did mention Canada.

Sorry never herd of her too, can she do the Gandam style dace or dose she do a cover of it? I watch J TV every day but never seen her.

If any of you think SHE is doing this & all the related add on scams..................................well...........you've been/being had

Although I'm not a big fan of Ms. Pamyu Pamyu, I've heard she has a huge following in Europe, where young adults view her as a colorful fashion trendsetter and try to copy what she wears.

She definitely won't make it very far

Yup, she ONLY has a successful business in fake eyelashes and her own clothing line, numerous appearances at fashion shows, several videos that became viral hits on the Internet, a certified gold album, and her own autobiography. All of that and she isn't even an adult yet.

That girl looks like someone puts Sailor Moon, Minnie Mouse and Lady Gaga in a mixer... O_o

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I saw the Ponponpon video on Youtube a while back, and I thought... "Well, it's Japan". Others not familiar with the type of music/video would think they had accidentally ingested some acid.

She definitely won't make it very far

Hmm my expert crystal ball of pessimism is not as good as yours.

nor will she have any real audiences

Oh I know just how that feels.

And going to a couple of Asian nations outside Japan

One of my hobbies is reading past the first paragraph.

Just like Bieber, her popularity stems when her music videos went net viral. And just like Bieber, she's trying to have the business acumen to capitalize on her opportunity.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

She's actually pretty talented for a model-turned-pop star. Not sure how anyone living in Japan can not have have heard of her of one of her songs before. Her videos are especially colorful, fun and very fantastic. She's a also a shrewd businesswoman from what I've read. Definitely not one to be dismissed off hand as a manufactured pop act like AKB48.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

She's fun and harmless... rather that than some politico singing about meaningful stuff and death. There's room in the world for fluff and fun.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Oh I can see the lines of otaku and anime fans from around the world loving this.

She seems alright - I've seen her on TV with the three pigs (not THE three little pigs mind you) - and is making money when she cane. She also doesn't have to divide her share with 47 other members so she's smarter than some others out there...

@randomenigma

No mention of the Sahara or the Gobi, or any other uninhabited wastelands either. ; )

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Not seeing any mention of Australia, so not going to acknowledge it as a world tour.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

I think she's the real deal - very fun to watch - not contrived. Her popularity grew naturally.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I think this is the Japanese alternate of Lady Gaga.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

her singing debut last August,

Heard her before, was she not singing before August ? Only moving the lips ? Well, I immediately knew Japan had an artist with global potential... She's totally at the level of that uncle Gangnam.

She definitely won't make it very far

Living in a hole ? At that point, she's been further that AKB48.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Kyary dayo!!!! nande wakaranai no? FASHION MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only like that song tho.

Haha. Love "Fashion Monster" too.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

She's huge in Finland! I like her. Simply put, she's fun.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

She definitely won't make it very far, nor will she have any real audiences save Japanese ex-pats who people who would visit the freak show at a circus. Her Lady-Gaga-wannabe act was old before it started, and needless to say is far from original. And going to a couple of Asian nations outside Japan is about as 'world-tour' as the WBC involves all the nations of the world.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Please, don't let the UK be one of the countries she infects....

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Kyary dayo!!!! nande wakaranai no? FASHION MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only like that song tho.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I think 10 European countries, North America and Asia is a world tour. Not many bands do every continent at once.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

@The True

The colorful Kyary will kick off her global tour in Belgium (Feb 8), then France (Feb 10), before playing in 20 different venues in over 10 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

Which part of that did you miss?

12 ( +12 / -0 )

World tour? So now going from Japan to china and Thailand is a World Tour?

The Japanese still don't understand the meaning of the world and how big?

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

I can't believe you haven't heard of this JPop star!Even on You Tube her videos have gotten millions of views!

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3g

She's just another kid singer with a thick make-up whose popularity lasts as long as the latest mobile phone model.

I've heard her speak on telly. She's just a child or a childish girl. World tour??? Gosh...

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Never heard of the creature. I'm guessing she's a... "singer"?

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Wait, who is she?
