They are not reliable. I did a lot of searching and they all blame the death threats and swear they are all from Islamic groups. If I put up a death threat on this board, would you know my religion? So how is their religion known? Clearly, the concert was cancelled by failure to reach an agreement with the Indonesian authorities, but the headlines and the first few paragraphs of all articles on the subject blame the death threats, sometimes in misleading language, as they steer us toward the sensationalism that will entice, but not offend their readers (Christian or pro-Christian.) Muslims are fair game to them. The bias is blatant and obvious. They know most people won't read past the first few paragraphs and they abuse that.

None of them are truly reliable, not the gossip sites and not the so-called reliabe sites either. They are all biased and sensationalistic at the same time. You can't tell me that with that much protest from Christians, that not even one issued a death threat.

Please use reliable sources rather than gossip, dubious or even at worst possibly "planted" information.

I live in the Philippines, I can assure you that there were no death threats issued to Lady Gaga by any Muslim, Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, etc. Hopefully it stays that way for all respectful artists.

No. As the Gaga treatment in Indonesia and the Philippines demonstrates, the precise opposite is the case. Christians can offended with abandon, since they are harmless, Islam, however must be treated with silk gloves, since nobody likes to receive death threats.

That should give you pause as well as the fact that the article makes it look like the threats cancelled the show when it was in fact failure to come to an agreement with the Indonesian government. The press is clearly biased.

For an idea on how Muslim protests turn out, look no further than the case of Theo Van Gogh- murdered by radical Muslims. Or, the attacks on those who made the famous "Mohammed cartoons". Or Molly Norris, an American journalist forced into hiding after threats on her life. These actions have created an atmosphere of fear and terror in western media that does not exist when dealing with other religions.

And let us remember that Gaga was simply banned in Indonesia unless she toned down the show. In fact, there were talks about toning down the show, but an agreement could not be reached. But now its suddenly about the threats? Come on. Who is kidding who here.

I agree with showmethemoney. Some people are just judging one whole religion based on prejudice alone by things "some people" did in the past. Not all religion's followers do only good things in history, but the religion itself wasn't the one at fault.

I want to say that the Indonesian police was the first to bring the refusal issue, and they haven't confirmed yet about any hardliner's approachment with them.

Considering the fanatical nut-jobs behind the threats, I'm glad she cancelled the event, if not for her own safety then for the safety if the thousands of her fans.

@ Matthew Simon: I wish it were that easy. If they don't like her music, then don't go. Next they will probably start blocking downloads of her music and videos (if they haven't already) to the people in Indonesia.

But I have to hope that this will knock some sense into her. She has no problems offending other religous decency beliefs because she knows that all they will do is protest, and in turn that protest generates free publicity for her. But not this time. I guess she just had to learn a cold hard lesson that music is not going to change the world (at least hers). .

I think its more that she seems to have no respect for the beliefs of some of these places. In the Philippines didn't she start out with the song that had got her into trouble there in the first place?
