I really hope this goes nowhere. There was plenty of time to sue while Randy California was alive and he didn't. The only people who stand to win in this case are the lawyers on both sides.

It's obviously a ripoff. They have a fine history of this. Wtf.

I listened to both versions.... and I think that Led Zeppelin stole those chords.... the similarity and timing are just too close.

It's a string of chords lasting no longer than about 3 seconds. Nothing more.

This is just yet another money grab. Simple as.

Can't copyright a chord sequence, and it's only the opening chord sequence that's similar. This is very different from the case of "Dazed and Confused", which was straight-up plagiarism.

True: Led Zepplin has a sketchy history when it comes to plagiarism. True: they were geniuses. However, to me: The plaintiff doesn't deserve to win here. There is a minor similarity here in the opening. It's not enough to justify a writing credit or royalties.

If you ever listen to Japanese enka songs, you know that there are like 6 different musical riffs, and nothing more. Nothing is 100% original, and who cares?

Definitely these two songs sound nothing alike and sounds like this guy is just using this opportunity to get some cash

They do, but nothing else, it doesn't justify a lawsuit

I used those chords too once. Sue me.

From the hundreds of songs they played and wrote there are some they (deservedly) were sued for.

But if you go into detail you'll find out each case is specific and quite different. One can't just put a label they are thieves.

For this specific case actually I think the used the riff but slightly changed it and made it sound richer. But this part is just small intro (that returns few times) and doe not make the song or the total atmosphere of the composition. I wonder if they can sue them for this any musician can be sued for techniques they liked in others before them and tried to make them better or their way...

a completely spurious law suit.
