Best James Bond ever. "You Only Live Twice" is my favorite Bond movie.

RIP.

Pussy Galore: My name is Pussy Galore.

James Bond: I must be dreaming.

Sean Connery gone but never forgotten, such a line, and delivered without a smirk,

”The name’s Bond. James Bond.” Unforgettable. RIP.

@oldman...

'You only live twice, Mister Bond...Once when you're born, and once when you stare death in the face.'

I may be a bit off on the quote, but I swear it's one of my life's leading credos.

Fist up, Sean!

It doesn’t get cooler than Connery. Worth more than the shower of cringeworthy luvvies who degrade British cinema combined.

and the infamous Barbara Walters interview in the late 80s, where he condoned slapping around women

I don't want to condone what he said or his general attitude to women, but he was talking about reacting to provocation. His attitude at that time seemed to be that it's OK to punch a man who is giving you a mouthful of abuse but only to slap a woman.

And although described as a ladies man, he did say once that he was more comfortable socially in the company of men. He seemed more of what was once described as a "man's man".

He seemed a stubborn person (in a good sense) and demanded to be treated fairly. One of his more interesting productions was a documentary about industrial relations in the shipbuilding industry in Glasgow, The Bowler And The Bunnet.

He did not bad for someone who was brought up in Fountainbridge, an area of Edinburgh where most of the stone tenements and the smelly brewery of his day have now gone.

He was marvellous as Indiana Jones' dad, too.

RIP Seán. Cha bhi do leithid ann a-rithist.

Will be sorely missed.

Pity about the whole hitting women situation.

He was married to the same woman for 45 years, so I think she knows more about him than you do from some comment in the news. But, hey, gotta get your shots in during a mourning period, right?

My favourite Bond. He was smooth and brutal at the same time. Love “You Only Live Twice” and fell in love with japan after that

Tonight I shall make a Vesper martini in his honor.

Loved him in Outlander. RIP, Mr. Connery.

Watching ‘Dr No’ as I speak,

followed by ‘from Russia with love’

They have been showing all the Bond movies on one of my cable channels for the past few months in honor of him turning ninety. He was the epitome of cool and smooth in all his roles. Hope he meets my mother up there because she was his number one fan. My wife is his number two and she is in shock. RIP.

In "You Only Live Twice," James Bond tells Miss Moneypenny that he'll have no trouble with Japanese when he gets to Japan, having taken a first (I think it was) in Japanese as a student...I remember being amused when I heard that line dubbed into Japanese...

Good man, Sean Connery. RIP

The Man who would be KING.

Connery had the physique and looks for a "leading man". Lucky chap! He was the best of all the "thugs for hire", a killer "on Her Majesty's Secret Service".

RIP sir. Thanks for the excellent movies that entertained us.

@Freddy Freeway,

Rising Sun wasn’t a big hit in Japan since it didn’t portray the Japanese in a positive light it was only released with very little fanfare.

I think the line that Sean Connery had when he said,The Japanese are the king perverts of the world’ didn’t do it any favors over here.

I remember when Connery appeared in Japanese whisky commercials....he certainly wasn’t called them greatest Scot’ at that time at least back home he wasn’t.

RIP.

He was sharp. Played the business end well. And didn't get caught up in the stupidity.

The man was a total legend. I too grew up idolising him.

May he Rest In Peace

Red October remains my favorite. My deepest sympathy .

Was Rising Sun a big hit in Japan? That was before my time here.

"I don’t think there is anything particularly wrong about hitting a woman- although I don’t recommend doing it in the same way that you’d hit a man. An open-handed slap is justified if all other alternatives fail.” – Sean Connery, Playboy, 1965.

There is no escape from Sean Connery comments and attitude towards women, it dogged him all of his working life. Even in his passing.

The original and greatest Bond. A man's man and loved the hot ladies! Caught the middle of Goldfinger as a little kid and got hooked instantly. Dr. No was my other fav. Enjoy your martinis, not stirred of course, and thanks for the many suave memories.

I am in no instance belittling Sean Connery achievements or contribution to the film industry.

Neither am I passing judgement.

Zardoz- one the greatest movies ever

The Molly Maguires - great US history piece of this groups story in the coal mines of Pennsylvania, late 1880’s.

Great life Mr. Connery ! Well done !

RIP 007

My late J-Wife loved Sean and I too. A gentleman and a perfect 007. None have surpassed him in that role.

I love watching him in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade!

I vote Roger Moore.

but it is interesting that only now that he has past away, accusations of sexual harassment are coming to light.

he was a great actor, I will miss his talent.

but it is interesting that only now that he has past away, accusations of sexual harassment are coming to light.

Accusations of domestic violence have been around for years. An interview with Playboy in the 60s and the infamous Barbara Walters interview in the late 80s, where he condoned slapping around women.

His ex-wife, Diane Cilento, in her autobiography claimed he was abusive towards her & knocked her unconcious.

Now, I liked his screen presence. And he was memorable in many other roles, besides Bond. But I can't ignore or justify his attitude towards women.

Am just surprised some people aren't aware of this - it's been out there for decades.

The nation's former First Minister Alex Salmond reacted to his death by describing Connery as "the world's greatest Scot..."

I always thought it was Mel Gibson.

He was married to the same woman for 45 years, so I think she knows more about him than you do from some comment in the news. But, hey, gotta get your shots in during a mourning period, right?

See above. It's more than just a "some comment".

And if not now, when?

Again, great screen presence, iconic, talented and memorable - but certainly not a real man.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

RIP, Mr.Connery. A true legend and a real ladies man. All other Bonds are pale imitations, especially Daniel Craig.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Iconic actor. Some great roles.

Pity about the whole hitting women situation.

He was a great role model.

He's a true man.

Nah, true men don't advocate domestic violence.
