Local Tokyo community of artists to stage charity event for quake victims

Sasurai-Events, a local Tokyo community of artists and performers, will stage a charity event on Saturday April 2 to help support the quake and tsunami victims in Tohoku. All profits from the event will be donated to Japan Platform which is working to help many smaller NPO and NGO groups to deliver much needed aid to people in the affected areas.

The event, titled "Souri: A Fairytale of the Silk Road," will be held at Tokyo Women's Plaza Hall near Omotesando subway station. It will also be a drop-off point for people to deliver donation goods that will be sent north by the group's NPO partners.

"Souri" features some of Japan's top ethnic and traditional performers specializing in Central Asia, Asian and Middle Eastern music and dance. Many of the performers are internationally recognized.

Performers include: ・Koji Kijima (Mongolian/Tuvan music) ・Yulduz (Uzbekistan dance) ・Kazuhiro Minowa (Darbuka, Riq, Frame drum) ・Yuzo Hisada (Frame drum) ・Megumi (Hulusi, Uzbek tanbur, daf) ・Kelly Williams (Afghan rubab, Persian setar, tanbur) ・MIHO (Oriental belly dance) ・Sana & Shyrien (ritam dancers) ・MADOKA (Persian rubab, Oud) ・Junzo Tateiwa(Darbuka, Frame drum) ・Umetbaeva Kalyiman (Kyrgyz music) ・Atsuko Maeda Kathak dance) ・Shiori Ishida (Tabla, Frame drum) ・Koki Yoshida (Sitar) ・Maysoon & Ayumi (ritam dancers)

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. Admission is 3,500 yen in advance and 4,000 yen at the door. For children aged 6 to 12, tickets are 2,000 yen in advance or 2,500 yen at the door. connecting Japan to the whole continent of Asia from East coast to the middle-east. Charity is also collected when more participants come to this event. I haven't seen any dancer from Southeast Asia ...
