"Yes, the celebrities are going to be okay, financially," he said. "But when you think about all the people who staff these various award shows, these are gig workers who rely on these paychecks... it would have a devastating effect."

....so we've decided to put them all on the full-time payroll, Malkin added. we think it's the right thing to do.

In Orwell's 1984 the novels produced by machines for the proles have six storyline which are endlessly recycled. In contrast, Hollywood only seems to have four storylines: the love story, the action hero, the hilarious gang of friends, and the journey. We all know how each of these goes and we all know the endings. The lovers fall into each other's arms, the hero overcomes the villain and goes off with the eye-candy (written deliberately sex-neutral due to rise of the female action hero), the journey ends in redemption, and the gang head off content and happy. There are only occasional and notable departures amid the sea of predictability. The fact that many of these departures are based on true stories merely emphasises the general lack of imagination. Returning to Orwell, his prophetic vision will soon be realised once Hollywood allows AI to generate story lines - such a change cannot make the typical output and worse.

Embattled? Perhaps if the idiots who risk assess movie production were told to get lost we might see a bit more creativity like we used to. Now it's just comic book characters ad nauseum and biopics.

The fires are the worst in LA's history, and probably the most expensive natural disaster in the history of the USA. The forecast is for another round of Santa Ana winds, lasting until Wednesday evening. Air quality has been bad for the last six days.

On the subject of what comes out of Hollywood, I think it isn't all bad, but I am definitely tired of super hero movies. A lot of creativity has been coming out of Japan and Korea. Products from China are interesting, but being under the thumb of censors definitely makes for less enjoyable products.

The horrors of the pandemic globally devastated humanity, over 7 million souls lost, economies in lockdowns etc.

Los Angeles will survive this tragedy, natural disaster, and learn the lessons from it.

"Heads" might need to roll in the sawdust. that is for later.

"Hollywood" is an irrelevance, the bravery, the courage of the fire crews, emergency services a national inspiration.

I am so tired of hearing "Stars including Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson and Billy Crystal have lost their homes to the past week's blazes". Do you really think these people are homeless most are just packing up and going to their second or third homes. What about the people in the Altadena and Pasadena areas where they lost everything and have no home to go to. I live in the path of the Santa Ana winds and I have been evacuated from my home before in the San Bernardino fires, these Santa Ana winds are seasonal and believe me if you live in the area you know when that season is approaching because you get a lot of dry heat and cooler evenings. The winds come through the mountains pass and you can hear them howling like a train then all of a sudden your home is pounded and then it stops as if it is backing up to come right back at you again and again all night. Another note, these Santa Ana conditions have been here for YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! The fire have been here for YEARS!!!!!!! The problem is you have developers and people with money who purchased and built homes in the FOOTHILLS where you have a lot of brush. The developers have come and built homes where people can have ocean scenic views and cosmic city views of lights. If you read the past these fires that was contributed by the santa ana wind are nothing new years ago they just burned out because no one lived near its path.
