Madcap British comedian Ken Dodd dies at 90

He was indeed a very funny man, one of the best joke tellers of all time. Ken Dodd was also famous for being acquitted after a very high profile case brought against him by the Inland Revenue about 30 years ago.

He was the inspiration for a well-known children's tongue-twister, Ken Dodd's dad's dog's dead which in turn gave name to a band of the same name.

A very talented/crazy man who came up with the Diddymen of Knotty Ash (and I think put the word diddy into the English language?) as well as the tickling stick and the legendary jam butty mines.

RIP, Professor Chucklebutty.

He will be missed. Ken Dodd not only was a master stand up comic, he could analyse comedy too. I was really impressed with a documentary he made on comedy a few years ago.

Ken Dodd was the funniest thing to come from Liverpool apart from Liverpool’s white suits at the FA Cup final and quite a few Everton defenders.

RIP Doddy, a brilliant comic who created his own crackpot world and never told a malicious joke in his career.

Famous for his very long shows that would go on until 1 or 2 in the morning. Those buying tickets for his shows were warned not to book a taxi home. He was still doing these marathon performances until late last year. He also had a memorable appearance in Doctor Who, playing the Tollmaster in Delta and the Bannermen.

When I was a nipper, I didn't really find him funny, but I guess it took time to understand his Comedy.
