Maid-detective Saki Fukuda wants to 'clean the world of cigarettes'

Actress-singer Saki Fukuda, 18, this week marked the sale of her first single in 2 1/2 years, "Ashita he no Hikari." She performed the single and another song in front of an audience of about 1,000 fans, the first time in three years she's sung on stage before a crowd. Waving to the crowd, she said, "This feels great, I want to do more performances. Thanks for coming on such a hot day!"

Fukuda is currently starring in the Fuji TV drama, "Maid Deka," as a maid-detective who fights the bad guys with her slogan, "Allow me to clean up the dirt of this evil." When asked "What bad thing would you like to 'clean' from the world?" the actress laughed and said, "I hate it when people walk while smoking, so I would want to get rid of cigarettes. I'd use the 'Cutie Cleaner' (a special mop she uses in the TV program) to hit the arms of people carrying cigarettes."

At least I'm smart enough to be able to walk and do something else at the same time

fleetwood -- so walking and smoking at the same time makes you "smart"? Hardly. Just makes you an inconsiderate dinosaur. Go ahead and kill your self if you want, just do it in a manner that is not so offensive to others.

Oh dear. Oh dear me. And in a couple of years she'll have a vote.

And use your own money to pay for your medical treatment when you get lung cancer.

why not just mop the floor and stop talking about it?

Wow - I guess no more ad sponsorship for her from JT or any of its many subsiduaries.

Nevertheless, I find the whole 'danger of walking with cigarettes' meme here in Japan an elaborate diversionary maneuver. By choosing to show 'care' by focusing on minor 'dangers' (i.e. burning someone with a lit cigarette) or 'manners' (e.g. the need to carry a portable ashtray so you do not sully the area with ash and butts), this deflects from the major issues of cancer, emphysema and all the other SERIOUS ailments that come as a result of smoking.

A very young girl says something utterly stupid & the old ladies just have to join in.

Tax on tobacco pays for far more than the health care needed by tobacco users. So we pay towards your health care.

Grafton... The amount of health care costs are FAR, FAR more than the taxes that are brought in. I'll post the link later, but only 25% of people in Japan smoke. Do you really think that covers ALL of the people that use health care in Japan??? People go to the hospital for a simple cold here. I'm running late.

Compared to developed countries tobacco tax is very low in Japan (in Asia and Africa in general). So if you're smoking in Japan you're not really paying us much.

But you definitely help us with the pension problem. The odds of dying before age of 65 is twice high among smokers when compared to non-smokers.

Thank you for smoking.

Hm that's a nice plan! But how do you clean the "World of Cigarettes"? I think Cigarettes are usually clean by default. You could try to was their users etc. but still it's strange that somebody wants to clean the world of cigarettes!

She want to get rid of cigaretts. How is this a 'stupid' comment? While I respect peoples' right to smoke, I'm pretty sure the world would be a better place without tobacco.

I agree Triumvere, though I don't respect people's "rights" to pass on 2nd hand cancer to others. But I wonder why she's gesturing like she wants a cigarette in both hands on stage in front of everyone?

I hope she realizes that hitting people on the arm with a mop handle is assault...........which, I believe, carries with it the penalty of a bare-buttocks spanking.

I hate it when people walk while eating...

"I hate it when people walk while smoking"

I hate it when people smoke anywhere near me.

I give her 4 years before being in the news with nicotine patches.

I love 18 year old dumarses....Being a non-smoker I do not mind if someone smokes a bit. If I were a smoker and some dumarse 18 year old knocked my smoke out of my hand I would be a bit miffed.....

Dumarse 18 year old......

I give her 5 years before she is clipped for smoking weed or meth. You know, the health drugs....LOL

Quit smoking it is bad for you and making someone else rich......But if you want to die, then that is on you.....Enjoy.....

I disrespect people's right to smoke. Why? Because when they get cancer, I indirectly have to cover their treatment by paying higher health insurance premiums. Not to mention that they impact the health of other people when smoking close to them. And in Japan that is very likely.

Remember when "Do you mind if I smoke?" was one of the phrases that used to be taught in English classes. Nowadays, it might be something like "Do you mind if I pass on some toxic fumes to your lungs", or Excuse me while I go outside and get my fix."

Smoking is ok (unless teenagers do it because they think it's cool)! Although I don't smoke since many years I don't mind it at all if somebody smokes near me! Everybody should have their freedom to smoke. Putting smokers into small rooms anywhere to smoke borders on discrimination!
