Maomi Yuki dubs voice for Hollywood film for first time

"Talent" Maomi Yuki, 31, has just completed her first job as a voice actress for a foreign film. Yuki is part of the Japanese voice cast for the action spectacle "Immortals," which opens in Japan on Nov 11.

Yuki supplies the voice for Athena, the goddess of wisdom in the movie. She said: "It was difficult to know what sort of a voice matches a goddess. I'd like to see the results by myself at first before anyone else sees the film because I'm embarrassed by what my voice might sound like."

Maomi is perfect for this - a goddess providing the voice for a goddess.

"“It was difficult to know what sort of a voice matches a goddess...."

Well, I can say for sure that a goddess doesn't have a high-pitched, fake voice like a little girl, so I hope they haven't followed the usual style of dubbing voices.

I like her but would like to give her a sexy hair cut. Hers does nothing for her facial lines and eyes.

Or the usual Kabuki-style wooden voice acting. "Bwahahahaha! Now I shall kill you!"

Yes, Japan needs useless "un-tarentos" to dub foreign language blockbuster movies despite the fact that the very talented and skilled cream of the anime voice acting industry are available.

You're ignoring the reality of the entertainment business. Truly "talented and skilled" voaice actors are going to have their management demand "talented and skilled" fees for their services. Ask yourself WHY these skilled actors are available and not already working on a project? The reason is because it's cheaper to hire inexperienced actors to get the shows out.
