“Multi-talent” Maomi Yuki appeared at the opening ceremony for “Safety and Smooth Tokyo Fair 2008” on Sunday, an event held in Akasaka as part of a wider campaign concerned with road safety and alleviating traffic congestion.
Yuki, 28, was wearing a policewoman’s uniform, and went on to tell of an unfortunate alcohol-related mishap: “I love alcohol, and right around when I graduated from university, I was at an end-of-year party at an izakaya, and I passed out with my head in the toilet bowl.”

Haha - the good old head in the bowl "Rock Concert Movement Number 69". Well my first (and last) time it happened for me was also during my university years (and also in Japan). Luckily I had a very good friend (future wife ;) ) to really help me out of it - as I couldn't have wake up even if the trumpets of Angels of Death would have been blowing in my ears.

Well I thought you looked a little flushed.

She looks very "talented" hope she doesn't get busted driving illegally, but probably will.

Maomi's cute.

I would be interested to know what her other talents are... perhaps a personal demonstration?

Pointofview, you are so right. Traffic regulations are not enforced here. I often read and hear about the large scale operations of traffic police, in cooperation with tax authorities, customs and immigration, held in the EU, where thousands of violators are apprehended in a single operation. Never heard about those in this country. A pretty girl (subjective) promote traffic safety? What bl--dy nonsense.

and her pants around her ankles...

I nominate her for the Best Standist award. Yowza! I'll do anything you say!

I`m all for promoting traffic safety but I never really thought that the police did or cared to do that. ie. People run red lights left right and centre in Japan and the cops do absolutely nothing. People drive with their kids running around in the car and no use of seatbelts and the cops do nothing. Bosozoku cut people off and drive like they own the roads and the police do nothing. I get the impression that this is another campaign that will be hypocritical in many ways...
They should be specific in their campaign. For ex. Fines/suspended licenses/reduction in points/increased insurance/safety seminars etc. will be handed out for unbelted kids in the car, dangerous drivers etc. Unless this is done I don`t think that anyone is listening.
Beware of cops hunting down people on Mama Charlies. It seems to be more important.

techall! good one!

Didn't a top police official from Tokyo just get fired and charged criminally for drinking and driving? Do they really want their campaign girl for traffic safety saying "I love alcohol"? Uh, duh?

"I passed out with my head in the toilet bowl".
I'm just so glad she didn't drown.

Perhaps a compulsory subject for primary school children to learn about 'road safety' would be wise. At least some sort of actual campaign involving school kids, and not some desperate tarento to flutter her eye lids to get the drooling mens attention. Then again, it's common sense that is lacking in this country. I think most adults couldn't tell their elbow from their arse, let alone drive properly!!

I feel safer.

"Multi-Talent" - she's developed quickly. On Nov 22 in JT, she was only a "talent". What has she learned to do in the past 8 days?

She's hot. I'd like to see some more of her 'talents'

Ha!She looks just about as intelligent as the drivers in Tokyo. I saw a guy driving up the wrong side of a median strip yesterday, so he could get to the bakery. Of course there was a lot of traffic coming the opposite way, but that didn't stop him. Idiots! - I wonder if there will be any many mention of the silent law on wearing seat belts in the back seat. I see two or three cars with kids jumping around in the back every day!

Nice uniform. And no it's not a joke, why would it be a joke for a high profile person to highlight traffic safety. It's a worthwhile cause, not 'best hairstyle' or 'best nose hair' award.
TrappedNTokyo
cut the amount of taxis in half and maybe pedistrians have a fighting chance.

This is a joke, right?

"Multi-Talent" = sstanding on one foot and saluting at the same time! I's seen the head-in-toilet-bowl trick many times.
