This is a pretty "blah" group of nominees. While some of them were certainly popular and sold a lot of records, I don't think any of them really moved the needle or had a major impact or long lasting influence. Joy Division / New Order is the only one I can think of that had major and lasting impact and basically along with Kraftwerk laid the foundations for an entire genre (note: there seems to be a general argument out there as to whether Rock & Roll is a sound or a spirit / attitude - I go for the latter).

Nice to see Georgia get some shout outs. My sister went to high school with Rich Robinson and OutKast went to the same high school as my mother (Tri Cities High, originally Richard B, Russell High in East Point).

FWIW, folks I'd like to see recognized (and not just my favorite artits): Carol Kaye (I mean, come on already), Paul Weller (as a artist and inflence - The Jam, Style Council, solo work), Al Jourgensen (work with Ministry, Wax Trax records and as a producer, also Rob Zombie and Jack Sparrow both stole his look), Brendan O'Brien (producer and another Atlanta boy), Los Lobos (years and years of high-quality and diverse output), Tommy James & The Shondells (of all the early acts, why they are not in is a mystery: Mony Mony, Hanky Panky, I Think We're Alone Now, Crimson and Clover, Say I Am, Crystal Blue Persuaison....)

DMB are in but the Pixies and Motorhead aren't? What a waste of time.

I reckon one killer album should be enough, so I would put in Montrose and Foghat. They actually deserve more people listening to them, rather than commercial %"&# like Def Leppard. There is no need to renew interest in them.

Hey, you forget Bad Bunny!!..

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Yes x 1000 to Joy Division/New Order! The soundtrack to the 80s and 90s.

So Mariah Carey and Cyndi Lauper get in before Sonic Youth, Pixies, Soundgarden, Motorhead, Motley Crue, Jethro Tull, etc. LOL!! It's come to the point where some acts don't want to be inducted anymore. What's the point?

For you perhaps and in your personal opinion

While some of them were certainly popular and sold a lot of records, I don't think any of them really moved the needle or had a major impact or long lasting influence. Joy Division / New Order is the only one I can think of that had major and lasting impact

What are you talking about? Both Carey and Lauper were huge definitely as an influencer on pop culture and written some of the most iconic songs of the 80s and into the 90s. Mariah Carey is recognized as one of the best-selling music artists, with over 220 million records sold worldwide.

Her official website states that she has sold more than 200 million albums to date.

Carey holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles by a solo artist, with 19 chart-topping hits. Cyndi Lauper has achieved global sales of over 50 million records throughout her career.

Her debut album, "She's So Unusual," is her best-selling work, with over 16 million copies sold worldwide.

In summary, Mariah Carey has sold over 220 million records globally, while Cyndi Lauper has sold over 50 million records. Now you don't have to like their music, but to understate their importance and contribution to the music world and culture cannot be in any measure understated.

and basically along with Kraftwerk laid the foundations for an entire genre (note: there seems to be a general argument out there as to whether Rock & Roll is a sound or a spirit / attitude - I go for the latter).

Kraftwerk is a completely totally genre of electronic music, they appealed to certain connoisseurs of avant-grade music listeners of their generation and then reborn in the mid-80s during the synth years and left a huge impression on bands such as Depeche Mode and Gary Numan

Again, very interesting list, but a lot of these bands were more underground and not in the mainstream Top-40 which is what the RRHF is basing their criteria for admission on. You need to reach a global audience and not only to the small dingy underground nightclub. I get what you're saying, I have my own list of artists I would like to see inducted, but that probably won't happen and I think it's ok because I personally like the eclectic musicians that were more in the limelight. Remember, music is always subjective, we all have opinions about certain musicians, but record sells don't lie. I don't like BTS at all, but when it comes to global reach, Top-40 and record sales, these guys are unmatched, so I definitely think based on that alone they will be inducted one day into the RRHF.
