Behold, the internet.

Of course each one of these "stars" could just pull a million dollars out of each of their pockets but that would solve the problem and that is not the goal of this event.

It's an easy target, isn't it?

They're doing what they can. Maybe it's genuine, maybe it's misguided etc.

Personally, I'm glad that they're pitching in. Every bit helps.

I don't think they are. Not in the slightest. None of the upper crust is (I do realize I'm now branching out from just entertainers).

When U2 flew in all those 2 million masks for medical staff in Ireland, surely that made a difference?

Whether or not we like celebs and their occasional hypocrisies, I'd rather they make the effort than not.

The rich and famous who have made thier millions from the public now asking the public to contribute.

Looked at another way, the rich contributing thier .001 percent while asking us to contribute our 1 percent.

Better than nothing, but.....

Why do media outlets even publish articles about these attention seeking hypocrites who give thier .001%?

How about publishing articles about the multitudes of nurses, volunteers and charity foot soldiers who are giving thier 100% helping the suffering on a daily basis without fanfare?

Yes, that was a genuine effort! U2 does walk the walk.

Hah!

What also gets me are ultra-rich celebrities like Victoria Adams asking a near-bankrupt UK government to financially help her cash-strapped staff whereas she is sinking in her own pile of cash.

And Richard Branson, sell your damn island.

Those poor New Yorkers don't care where the money comes from, so long as it comes

If nothing is done, they starve

People love to tell others how their money should be spent.

Of all the countless cringeworthy celebs, Bono is as bad as the worst offenders - the British thesps.

That said, at least U2 did something which benefitted people.

It will be a platform used to further their political agenda first. Watch and see, the people are just getting used for their agendas...

Yes and no.

His vanity and zeal knows no bounds, almost certainly, if you were to take seriously the tonnes of comments written and posted about him, over the years. There'd be no contest in the ego stakes.

But a great performer, when it mattered. If you can excuse that "play the blues, Edge" moment...

If their generosity, or that of anyone, can highlight the difficult conditions medical staff are up against - I say fair play and thanks.

I agree, I posted that.

I’m just saying Bono is cringeworthy. I saw it myself at a U2 concert with a friend who was a big fan. He basically said Bono is a twat but he can sing and the music is good. I have never been a big U2 fan but I agreed with him. Good gig if you could ignore Bono’s posturing and preening.
