Model Marie, 24, has enrolled in Parsons The New School for Design, a famous American art university in New York City.

Marie wrote on her blog: "I'll be going back and forth between New York and Japan now that I am at Parsons." On Oct 4, she posted "Entrance celebration picture" and wrote "Today is my first day at the university, so I'm nervous lol" and "my classmates are about 19 years old, so I worry if I can keep up with them."

Marie wrote "I will work hard and live up to the challenge because there are a lot of people who support me and considering that this is my last chance to get a higher education."

She has $$$ and I bet she has left to get away from the radiation. Many celebs will be doing this soon no doubt.

She is extremely wealthy with a home in North America and can speak English. Why do you think she suddenly left Japan? Do you think she would be suddenly going there to study if the nuclear reactors did not blow up earlier this year? Come on. People with money will do what they must to survive.

kurumazaka: her father is not american nor was marie raised in SoCal. her father is french-canadian and works/worked for the japanese division of a large french oil company. marie debuted as a 'celebu-dol' and was labelled the paris hilton of japan because of her family's wealth. marie herself studied in chicago during middle school but other than that has lived in jaapn her whole life. so yes, it is correct to say her english is middle school level at best, though if you read her blog, sometimes her english is absolutely incomprehensible.

and parson's is just famous as the school which produced marc jacobs and alexander wang, im not sure it deserves this 'harvard of fashion' status.

Nice! Does this finally mean we won't have to see her mug on tv anymore?!?! Best news of the day!

It's a bit of a pity that education stops once you get "too old" i.e. 24 in Japan. I shocked my students when I told them I was going to graduate school at the age of 30.

FYI I personally know quite a few people who are in their mid to late 30's here who are in graduate school. While it may not be common it is not unheard of either. Kudos to her for trying, the school she is attending though is one of the most expensive higher education colleges in the USA, I hope she has the cash and determination to see it through to the end. Unlike many Japanese Universities US schools are relatively easier to get into but much harder to graduate from and the attrition rate is nearly 50% at many schools for their 1st year students.

I hope in 3 or 4 years from now we are reading an article that she graduated as well! Good Luck!

It usually takes more than originality and a extravagancy for design to succeed as a fashion designer. However Marie being a well-known talento can begin making important contacts while still in school and will probably have a upper hand hand in the future. Parson is a great school with cutting-edge training and fashion education but it's not the best and unfortunately no good fashion designers have come out of America in years. To be honest Central Saint Martin College of Art and Design is and has always been viewed as the worlds leading and most prestigious fashion college. But the most important criteria in the selection of a fashion school is the quality of academics and rigor of training. Therefore in this day and age a school focused on advanced training in digital graphic, industrial design and product development is imperative

After hearing her Japanese, I figured she must be a native English speaker. Her English is horrendous - middle school level at best.

Post makes no sense whatsoever.

As for Marie, she is fine and dandy but she has taken more beatings than a clay court.

My advice - forget education and marry a rich guy before you are 27. There are precious few chances beyond that my dear. God forbid - I might end up one of those chances...

Wow! That is a huge bruise!! Not smart enough to cover it up OR talk about DV!

Haha! Maybe the 19-yr-olds need to keep up with her! Night life!

Also, I guess she speaks the English good?

Afraid not. After hearing her Japanese, I figured she must be a native English speaker. Her English is horrendous - middle school level at best.

It's a bit of a pity that education stops once you get "too old" i.e. 24 in Japan. I shocked my students when I told them I was going to graduate school at the age of 30. "We don't do that," was the main response. Good luck with this "old biddy" trying to keep up with people five years young than her. Also, I guess she speaks the English good?

Zoom in on her picture. So one gave her a good squeezing on her right hand arm. It is really bruised.

Parsons is well know but I would not call it famous. There are many better art schools out there like RISD and Cranbrook just to name a couple.

I wish they told us what area of art she is majoring in. I hope it is not textiles and dress making, as hers just does not make it. Pretty woman though and good luck walking the streets of Manhattan.

Wonder if we'll see her on next year's Project Runway.

She might not have but everyone else does. I guess it is good that she's actually doing something but see drives me nuts when I see her on TV. Mind you, all the "model/talento" do.

considering that this is my last chance to get a higher education.”

Did she just call herself stupid?
