I was curious, so I had a listen to this. Hard to see the appeal - one of those cliched songs you've heard a thousand times before, even if it's the first time you've heard this particular version of it. I'm assuming there's some nostalgia value with the current version.

It's great that such a positive and hopeful song is so popular in Japan. I'm sure it's at least partly because the people here appreciate some uplift and cheer in the midst of the daily grind.
