Forget canon. Once again, Disney wants to tell their own story and have a young woman, teach Obi-Wan about the Force and how to sacrifice herself for the greater good when the time comes.

SPOILERS! (if you haven’t seen the sequels in 15 years), but it’s stupid to have Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader fight again, especially when his classic line in A New Hope, the first Star Wars movie was:

Last time we met I was but the learner. Now I am the master".

I think this will be good.

It’s painful, but agree with @TokyoLiving here. Fans of the original StarWars (and prequels, for some) should be tired of this. Stop giving your money toward Disney’s periodic “jingling of keys” and then, “bait & switch” of original Lucas characters with their own agenda warriors.

A foreshadowing of more Disney doom to come?:

“There should be moments along the way when you learn things," Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said in recent interview.” -*

[“but we didn’t.”] ?

"Now it does seem so abundantly clear that we can't do that." - *

Yes. Abundantly clear, Kathleen

If you really have to see Kenobi, (for those like me who just want to see how bad it turns out), perhaps enjoying it on a relaxing vacation while sailing the high seas might be the best way to circumnavigate Disney’s continued treacherous plots. Yo-Ho-Ho.

The last STAR WARS movie I saw was shortly after the real Carrie Fisher died. There was very old Luke, a young Padme who slayed the 'new enemy of the week', a Snoke king. Just like that, she slew him. Where was the Force in action? Somehow, she just didn't behave like a Jedi Knight. Some rebel/whatever commander stayed on a starship bridge on a sui-mission to crash into an Imperial Star Destroyer, Leia got jettisoned out into space and then got 'revived again', and this boring shootout of two massive army fronts on a planet or asteroid or oh WTH.

Nothing was like the Force or anything within light-years of George Lucas' original visions. Disney has hosed it all up to the max. I can't keep up with all the names, places, people, etc. I don't care anymore. Like STAR TREK and other cool franchises, take it out of the originators' hands, you get Bastardization Maximus.

Seconded. Recommend something for a change.

At least they've realized making a billion shows about Boba Fett and Tatooine appeals to no one. I hate prequels and spinoffs but have occasionally been surprised by good quality. Here's hoping this is one such occasion.

In my opinion, the only good thing that was produced by Disney’s non-canon Star Wars Trilogy was a redemption of the Prequels in the eyes of the public.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi" is a product of Disney's recent decision to pivot "Star Wars" resources from movies to television.

You know, even when LucasFilm owned the rights, in the mid 80s there was a 'fantasy' (not truly sci-fi) STAR WARS TV film (with a horse riding character!) but it wasn't written or directed by George. And there was the Saturday morning cartoon series 'Ewoks', again somebody else directed that. When the first STAR WARS film was still riding high, Lucas was pressured to do a TV special and he made the 'STAR WARS Thanksgiving/Life Day TV Special' dduring autumn 1978 and man did it evah ess you cee kay. Ya D-I-G? Princess Leia sang on it!!!! It was sooooooooooooo wretchedly awful that it was never released for public video release (VCRs were still rare and not cheap. Very few cheapo home recordings survive). George Lucas took legal action to ensure it never gets seen by anyone ever again.

Having astronomy as one of my hobbies, being a pre-teen and having the honor of seeing the classic movie as my first (chaperoned) date, i found the TV special to be extra sucky even then. That was the first attempt to pivot STAR WARS resources to TV. and it was by George Lucas himself. And he's embarrassed by it.
