Lovely sentiment, Andy.
You’re clearly a class act….

I fondly remember the 3 months or so I spent with Meat as an assistant engineer (read tea boy) on a Meatloaf album in the early 80's. A larger than life character who made the studio both tremble with fear and roll around with laughter. RIP. Meat. Enjoy your Mad Planets in the sky.

Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Magnificent song.
I'm utterly devastated by this news. Meat Loaf was like a religion in my house as a kid and even now. His songs were something that bonded my family together and we all loved belting out to his albums.
RIP, sir. Thank you for the many, many great years of epic music and showmanship; and giving us a musical based on your songs too! I will treasure the memories forever.

Sad news, Meat was great. In the 90's when I was a teen he was always on VH1 and MTV, 'I would do anything for love'. But my favourite has to be the dashboard light. 74 is too young these days, very sad.

If Rock and Roll dreams come true,
...the last thing he saw, was his heart, still beating. Breaking out of his body and flying away....Like a Bat out of Hell!
RIP. One of the best albums ever made.

I remember when this song came out my mom balking at the lines
I want you
i need you
but there ain’t no way I’m ever gonna love you
She walked away mumbling something. LOL

RIP condolences to the family

This was the stuff that the punk/new wave revolution rebelled against, that and disco. Bad ugly memories. the only 'meat loaf' I can stand is what you eat.

His music will live on forever. RIP

Great singer. What was the title of that one song? "Love Under the Dashboard"? What a title but it described the times very accurately.
RIP

Unfortunately In Australia, he’ll be remembered for one of the worst AFL grand final shows ever

Saw him live once a long time ago. Fantastic!
Don’t forget Todd Rundgren. All three together made Bat Out Of Hell the masterpiece it is. Saw Todd live too, same venue actually, Harpos in Detroit.

“Valhalla awaits.” Meatloaf, a true Titan of rock ballads. Fly now, out of hell and onward. - “Godspeed” .

I don't know... I tend to think of his best work as in Fight Club. Was never a huge fan of his 20-minute-long songs, although of course you can't deny his legend.
In any case, 74 is not a bad age, but he could have lived longer if he had taken the relevant precautions to do so.
Andy
Condolences to Mrs Meatloaf and his family, they know all too well that he wasn't really a good singer, was he?
