Memorial concerts for X Japan guitarist hide to be held

Two memorial concerts for the late X Japan guitarist hide, who committed suicide in 1998, will be held in Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo on May 3 and 4. Current X Japan members and several groups and artists, such as LUNA SEA, T.M. Revolution and DJ OZMA, will take part in the two-day event.

Yoshiki, X Japan leader, said, “We couldn't have the memorial concert 10 years ago because we were too depressed. But this time, we'd like to have an enjoyable festival without tears as a tribute to hide.”

After hide died on May 2, 1998, some fans committed suicide as well.

Why are other names starting with capital letters but not the name of the deceased Hide - I presume western spellcheckers coming into force.

That said - never heard of any of these people/bands. Why's it news?

X Japan was a top band in the symphonic rock genre here, actually going over genres, just a major band. As you can imagine, it was popular before hide's suicide in 1998, which in turn occurred after they broke up, so if you've been here shorter than 10 years you may have missed it. And hide - he chose to have his name written with a small letter, so everybody lets him be.

Yeah, I wish I could go to, their "Crucify my Love" is still one of my favorite Japanese pieces.

Is this going to be an annual event that will eventually coincide with the annual John Lennon music tribute held in Saitama because they have the John Lennon museum? (Because Saitama was such a instrumental part of the Beatles popularity/growth). Where's the hide museum, by the way? If you can find it, is it really the hide museum?

Wonder how many fans they were able to rope into going?

Sorry. I hope the guy is at peace.

I would love to go, I liked X-Japan but am a big Luna Sea fan as well. Should be a great concert.

hide was extremely popular in his time and was honored with a huge memorial service in Japan after his death. It's news because of how many people loved and respected him and those who are still in the Japanese Rock scene continue to admire him. Many well-known rock artists will be performing at the upcoming memorial, such as Dir en grey.

But yeah, the hide museum was closed a while back.. unfortunately. Such a shame, I always wanted to see it.

DeepAir, hide's name always uses only lowercase letters...that was how he had written it.

This concert is a really nice idea but I think I'll skip out on it. Too expensive (even the crappy seats are the same price as the good ones) and I'm not really into so many of the bands playing there. I'd like to see X, Luna Sea, and DJ OZMA and a few others, but their set times will definitely be short with the massive band list set for this thing.

I saw X Japan at Tokyo Dome and according to my friend, Aji no Moto Stadium is really crappy compared to Tokyo Dome for a concert, there are simply too many seats there that suck where you pretty much can't see a much of anything, even in the arena, and the layout is awkward according to what she told me. But, as it is an open-air venue, one could probably go hang out in the parking lot and still hear the sounds if you wanted to.

hide's death is said to be more of an accident rather than suicide. he was hang from the doorknob. it was said that he was probably doing the movement for guitarist to relieve stressed muscle after returning home from drinking. & he was at the peak of his courier at that time

"it was said that he was probably doing the movement for guitarist to relieve stressed muscle"

Whoever came up with that probably needs to relieve a strained BS muscle.

I'd go just to hear Nawo, MAXIMUM THE HORMONES loud mouth drummer as her screams resonate through the "fabulous" acoustics of Ajinomoto Stadium.

"Whoever came up with that probably needs to relieve a strained BS muscle." If I remember correctly, it was Taiji(former X Japan) who said it.

Did anyone hang around for the after party?
