As a musician, I can totally relate to her difficulty at screwing up. As an actress who has very good musical ability, she amazed me in this film. It takes a lot of good training of one sort to overcome good training of another sort. Meryl proved herself, once again, as an extraordinary talent. Not the 'talent' of the Japanese sort, but the real thing.

Apparently when the Sex Pistols reformed for a one-off tour in 1996 they sounded too good, and had to practice at playing badly!
